"Fascinating," Logan said in a voice full of wonder. "Absolutely fascinating."
Emile smiled, feeling his face warm slightly at the attention, which he hoped that Logan did not notice. He did not seem to, far too focused on Emile's tail, fins and gills.
"So, you can breathe both air and under water?" Logan asked, his eyes bright with curious excitement.
Emile nodded. "Yes! But I'm afraid I don't know much about the specifics, I'm no scientist like you."
"That's quite all right," Logan responded, giving Emile a slight - and incredibly adorable, in Emile's opinion - smile. "You have given me enough answers already."
"I have many friends who know more about our biology than I do," Emile said. "Maybe next time you visit, I could bring one of them along with me." He paused, realising what he had just said, and he felt his face blush just a little bit more. "If you want to visit me again, that is."
Logan reached up, brushing some loose strands of hair out of his face. He then pushed his glasses further up his nose.
(He was already very cute - Emile could look into his eyes for an eternity - and his excitement for all of this made him even more adorable.)
"I would like to come visit you again," Logan said. "I have many questions. I had no idea your species even existed. This is all quite fascinating."
Emile smiled, and - without even thinking about it - he moved his tail excitedly in the shallow water. Droplets landed on the sand of the beach, and Logan was splashed as well.
"Oh, oops!" Emile said sheepishly, leaning back a little. "Sorry!"
Logan removed his glasses, drying the lenses with a dry part of his sleeve. He then placed them back on his face.
"It's quite all right," he said. "It is only water."
"Still, sorry," Emile said, his expression still sheepish. "I splash a lot when I get excited."
"It's all right," Logan repeated. "I do not mind." He then took a glance at his watch, before he pulled a face. "Ah, it is getting late, I should be getting home."
Emile pouted, deflating slightly. "Oh, okay."
"But... I could return tomorrow evening?" Logan offered.
Emile straightened up, his tail moving excitedly again.
"Please do! I'd love to spend more time with you. We could meet here this time tomorrow?" He offered.
He reached over, covering one of Logan's hands - which lay on the sand - with his own.
Logan's face reddened slightly.
"That sounds nice," he said. "And I'll bring my notebook when we meet up next time, so I can make notes on the things you tell me."
