I cannot end up with someone like my father. He’s so awkward with non-Filipinos. He’s awkward in general but SO awkward with non-Filipinos, good lord. Like geez, no wonder I am. It's such a shame that this moment isn't enough. Enough to distract me from or compensate for the abhorrent, ignorant, and insipid attitudes that the human spume of this town exert. I meet a lot of bad people. I spent so much of my late teens and early twenties being angry about this. It's a horrible thing to admit but I owe a lot to that anger. Feeling like you don't fit or that you don't want to be vacuous and irrelevant in your endeavours will pay off. We have to be humble enough to know that without the bad we can't identify the good, let alone find and subscribe to it. Everything needs everything.
