How to price a logo
First get a brief made up, with answers to questions that give you an idea of what the project will entail.
Now that you know what the project entails, consider how long the project will take.
Consider money spent on education, equipment and software bought,
Consider that a logo is really a huge part of branding. It will need to last many years, work in different contexts, be recognizable easily, the face of your brand, will be used commercially and explicitly for making a profit.
Level of expertise + specs + turnaround time + service and support + demand + economy + location = cost
Be realistic with yourself. Look at your competition and see how you compare.
Value! What value do you specifically bring? Don’t price just on time, consider the value too!
One site for consumers suggests explicitly...$100 for something simple with 2 concepts and 2 revision rounds. $400-700 for something intricate, multiple versions for different purposes, infinite revisions...$1000 if you’re working with a team, speciality imagery, hand drawn illustrations.
One site for consumers suggests $300-1000 is reasonable for a small business.
On the other hand...If you end up with a money focused client
Be honest with them. If they are looking for cheap and just want the job done then tell them it won’t be you. Value yourself enough to get paid what you’re worth.
Determine their budget and offer something within it. A compromise of sorts.
Determine if you just need to break off from the project.
