But during the last few episodes of season 1 of Shadow Lord when Maul’s leg sustains damage by Daki, his obsession with Devon only intensifies. And I wonder if at some point where he’s getting minor repairs to his leg by Icarus, he’s wondering “what if Devon will never become the apprentice that joins me?” or “what if I never find someone to stand by my side as I exact revenge against all of my enemies?”

Maul’s only had one person who he had taken under his wing as a student to willing follow him and show him undying loyalty—Savage Opress—his brother. And yes, Maul regrets that he didn’t treat his brother better, and I believe that’s one reason why he wants Devon as his apprentice, so that he could treat her in the way he didn’t treat Savage. But as we’ve seen, she has constantly rejected him, calling him a “murderer” and showing visible disgust as the prospect of joining him.

And Devon’s vacillations make Maul doubt himself, and that essentially builds a wall around his power, weakening him.

I’ve been listening to the Darth Bane: Path of Destruction audiobook, and while under his apprenticeship under the Brother of Darkness on Korriban, Bane temporarily loses his connection and power in the Force. This happens because he subconsciously feels immense guilt and emotional trauma after realizing he used the dark side to kill his abusive father during his youth.

Maul doesn’t lose his connection to the Force, but he clearly struggles against Marrok and Crow in episode 7. Call to Oblivion. I believe this isn’t just because of his damaged leg, but it’s because he’s suffering from an immense feeling of doubt and uncertainty on whether he will find an apprentice to aid him in his quest of vengeance should Devon refuse him.

This is inner monologue is from the Star Wars Legacy comic series focusing on Darth Wyyrlok III. In issue #27 of the series, Wyyrlok visits Parkith, a world in the Inner Core, and home to a citadel belonging to Darth Andeddu. After wrenching away knowledge that will supposedly help Darth Krayt with his infliction from Yuuzhan Vong coral cells that were rapidly degrading him as well as deforming him, forcing him into constant stasis. While engaged in a heated battle of physical prowess and verbal jabs, Andeddu tries to make Wyyrlok doubt his standing as a true Sith Lord, calling him a slave and lackey, nothing more. But upon defeating Andeddu, Wyyrlok leaves and tells himself this: “don’t question or doubt. These are poisons that will sap your will and strength, making you prey and not the predator.”

And we see Maul clearly becoming prey to the Inquisitors. And I don’t care how well trained Marrok and Crow are, as a former Sith Lord, Maul had more experience and was far stronger than them both. But of course, he’s on the back foot because of his leg, and because of doubt and uncertainty in his mind, which is essentially robbing him of his strength.

- Temperature :

It seems stupid to have vampires as cold as ice, because to maintain a frozen temperature, they would need a biological system dedicated to this only goal. And why ? Venom conservation ? If venom if active on human body it needs a human temperature for that so ... no need to be cold.

I think that vampire are cold because they are dead. So like every non-alive item they are as warm as the room they are in. That's why they can hold snow without melting it. But if you put them under a blanket whith someone human or in a hot tub they will have a rise of temperature.

- Skin as hard as stone :

I think their blood circulation is replaced by venom so if tissues are inpregnated by venom they will be slightly modified. So their skin is not hard as stone but it could be indestructible. If venom molecules form a mail/mesh inside the skin, it could still be moved by touch or follow movements but couldn't be pierced or tore apart. And it's that venom's mail that sparkle in the sun .One could pinch Alice's cheeks but wouldn't be able to stab her even whith a sharp knife. Like the sand on the beach, you can push slowly your arm under the sand but if you stab it with your finger you will risk a visit to the hospital.

- Why drinking blood ?

If they have a need to drink it then blood have an utility within their organisms, I think venom replace blood in their blood circulation and that's why their heart doesn’t beat but the other circulatory system still function but slightly differently. Their eyes are still humid to facilitate the movements BUT they don't have tears (it exist only to protect the eyes and theirs aren't as vulnerable as human eyes) inside are still wet too to maintain the possibility of movements (if your organs weren't humid, your abdomen would be impossible to move). Ears and eyes have their liquid replace by venom and that could explain the amelioration of senses.

For that I think blood is necessary to bring essential elements : water for the organism different systems and molecules like hemoglobin, needed to synthetize venom.

Paranormal or Perfectly Normal? // #1: Sleep Paralysis

For Mind Sage’s first post, it seemed fitting to discuss something that four out of every ten people will experience at least once in their lifetime – sleep paralysis. If you don’t know what sleep paralysis is, consider yourself very lucky. Paralysis in itself is a terrifying thing to experience, but some people have also reported experiencing something more sinister during the phenomena.

When we sleep, various neurotransmitters in the brain work together to paralyse the body so we don’t act out on our dreams during the REM cycle. We are unable to move or speak during this time. Unfortunately, sometimes our brains essentially awaken before our body does in the sense that we are able to perceive things that are happening around us, but we aren’t able to move or call out. This can occur either as we’re falling asleep (known as hypnagogic) or when we’re waking up (hypnopompic). What makes this experience appear straight out of a nightmare is that people often experience a feeling of choking or floating, pressure on their chest, sensing a presence in the room or hearing noises.

Stories of sleep paralysis have been circulating through cultures for centuries and has actually inspired many stories that are still told today. These stories stem from what people report seeing during this period of sleep paralysis – shadows, demons, ghosts, animals, witches or aliens. For many centuries, many people have reported seeing a certain type of presence during a bout of sleep paralysis. This has been labelled “old hag syndrome”.

Old hag syndrome is a folklore myth that is centred around the idea that the sleeper awakens and sees an old hag sitting on their chest, causing breathing difficulty and ridding them immobile. The premise behind this seems to be a common factor in most cultures, the only difference being the appearance of the “old hag”. For example, many Europeans have reported seeing a female horse and feeling her riding upon their chest (fun fact, “night mare” actually originates from this). In St. Lucia, people experience an “attack of kokma”, which is when the souls of dead children crawl across the sleeper’s chest and attempt to choke them. A disembodied witch has been spotted by populations in the US, a vengeful ghost in Fiji, a Jinn in Turkey, a silent shadow in Vietnam, and a mouse that steals your breath in China.

In medieval times, people reported being sexually assaulted by a succubus or an incubus while being unable to move. Myths circulated that females would be impregnated with something sinister during this act and would die as a result, and the males would just die after the act. Interestingly, these myths can actually be closely compared to stories shared in modern day society of alien abduction.

All over the world, particularly in the US, people have reported seeing bright lights in the sky, being abducted into a foreign object, and being poked, probed and in some cases sexually assaulted by grey-ish looking creatures. A psychologist named Christopher French has taken an interest in this subject and has studied the connection between reported alien abductions and sleep paralysis. He believes that all alien abductions can actually be explained by simply experiencing sleep paralysis.

It appears that there is a correlation between what people report experiencing during sleep paralysis and what their culture considers important or scary. For example, the reason stories of alien abduction are so popular in the US is because of the abundance of movies or TV shows featuring science fiction topics. This is supported by the relation between what people report seeing and the common cinematic portrayal of aliens. In cultures where family ties are important, people often see the vengeful spirit of a deceased relative. In centuries past where witches were a fear of most of the population, people would see a laughing witch or hag sitting upon their chest. This could explain why some people see or experience similar things during sleep paralysis despite having no direct contact with each other.

The psychologist mentioned before, French, also studied the link between a person’s interpretation of sleep paralysis and their level of belief in the supernatural. Obviously in cultures where myths and folklore are common, someone is going to report seeing a manifestation of the creature in those stories. This may explain why some people don’t see anything at all during sleep paralysis. The experience of waking up and being unable to move or speak is horrifying in itself and your anxiety levels are going to be naturally raised. Combine that with being stuck between awake and asleep, and hallucinations are bound to occur.

If these explanations still haven’t eased your mind, Jorge Conesa Sevilla published a book titled “Wrestling with Ghosts: A Personal and Scientific Account of Sleep Paralysis”, which discusses stories told throughout generations of sleep paralysis. It also discusses techniques that one can use to diffuse tension and anxiety when experiencing sleep paralysis to help reduce the chances of hallucination.

I personally have experienced sleep paralysis a couple of times, but I haven’t actually seen anything. It may be because being paralysed is one of my biggest fears, so all of my anxiety is directed towards that and I wouldn’t actually be paying attention to anything else happening around me. “Respect Women” is the most commonly seen—and commonly ignored—phrase in any state, district, or city of India. There is a reason why it cannot be—and will not be—practised, completely.

The phrase “Respect Women” is as meaningless and dumbest as it would have been if there was one like this: Respect Men.

Why?

The answer is as simple as attaching the above “Why?” to the phrase: Respect Women. Why?

The answer has two related aspects of the same concern.

#1. Respecting or disrespecting anyone based on their skin colour, birth, gender or racial background is nothing but RACISM.

It is pure, simple, primitive racism because all women, the phrase says, should be respected and treated politely for their gender (which is not in one’s choice). So are skin colour, birth, and racial background—out of one’s choice. Respecting someone for what they have no control over is absolutely irrational, illogical, and foolish.

For instance, [a] respecting a woman for her intelligence which has to be acquired, maintained and hence possessed, is correct and logical—but, disrespecting a man for his skin colour is legally wrong. [b] respecting a man for his talent which has to learnt, practised and hence possessed, is correct—but, respecting a bum because he hails from a prestigious family, is morally wrong. 

Now: Would you respect all women equally, although you know there are basest, immoral, slutty creatures in them, as there are in every other gender? Don’t you award the best and scorn the cheap? Don’t you consider anything when respecting someone? Are your respect and admiration so worthless that you give it to anyone who claims it? Would you like to spend more time with both people of average minds and great minds without acknowledging what makes them great or remain average? Would you treat the worthy and worthless, able and inept, intelligent and stupid alike?

Respect, let us define, is the feeling one gets when one sees or finds someone who is more productive or intelligent or successful or rich or determined than oneself. Observe that all these are not given to man—any man—at birth and are in his choice to practice (and progress) or to ignore (and perish). Therefore, we respect what one possesses and maintains, and not for their mere useless, unproductive, stupid and burdensome existence. Simply put: Possession earns you respect, mere existence does not.

For instance, one can (and should) respect a person who created and grabbed opportunities when there are none, by thinking intelligently, using all the available means and putting in sufficient effort to grow richer, abler, and made himself turn into a success story—but, taking it further, one cannot (and should not) respect his son if he is just another loafer who does nothing and has no interest or plan to do anything in the near future, and throws a party every weekend pouring his father’s money down the drain. Here, the father is respected for possessing one thing, and the son is denounced for the lack of it: the ability to produce. So, the possession is what one is respected for, be it richness or productivity or moral perfection. Therefore, it is for this reason that “Respect Women” does not work.

I repeat : Possession earns you respect, mere existence does not.

#2. Forgetting this basic principle that applies to every human beings, most see the phrase “Respect Women” as just another phrase of sympathy and “their” right (and many follow). 

“There can be no such thing as the “right” of some men to violate the rights of others.” –Ayn Rand, Novelist and philosopher.

How is accepting the phrase “Respect Women” violating the rights of everyone? Psychologically, it negates the value of, and the basic right to think. How? It’s like this: Any person respects someone for his good opinion of them. Forming a “good” or “bad” opinion of somebody requires that one judge them. Judging someone cannot be—and will never be—correct without considering the facts of reality. Taking facts of reality and putting them in their corresponding place and pronouncing a judgement requires that one think. So, one has to think before one respects someone. But they want you to respect all women without thinking. Now, is that phrase—and its practice—not denying the right to think?

(It is for this reason that that phrase is evil, illogical, irrational and won’t work.)

Unfortunately, incidentally or intentionally—we don’t know, our government upholds such a vice and its practice as one of the highest virtues of the society.

In Hyderabad, along with formation of a new government in Telangana, there changed a lot of things including the initiations to stop abuse against women, either mental or verbal or sexual. As a part of this initiation, they made visible in every corner, lane, street, and also in recreation places, a hoarding that said: “Respect Women.”

Answer the following question.

“How do you know all women are worthy of being respected?” And every time a rational person sees that hoarding, he says to himself: “I won’t, blindly.”

Some of you may get reduced to anger against this logical explanation, and would pose a “threatening” question as to which other “phrase” suits that place best other than that.

I’d suggest, “BEHAVE YOURSELF.”

A ‘SHE’ Team hoarding which is like— BEHAVE YOURSELF, followed by a warning to eve-teasers (as is already now), then by a contact number  —would be proper both practically and metaphysically (by metaphysically, I mean, in regard to principles and rights).

And it is gender neutral, the phrase I suggested, and directly says everyone—men and women—to behave themselves. And this would regulate “the law and order” as much as the currently used evil phrase can, or perhaps better.

Thus, the following is answered and understood:
