Day 7 (retro)
Another missed post - two in a row, how about that?
Even though there were some free moments, I did very little work-related items, but did accomplish one logjam update.
The rest of the time was spent researching very bad holiday music. Yes, I know, this sounds like a hell of a way to spend a Saturday, but there is a very good reason for that. Oh? Really? You want to know?
Well, there is this little podcast I do, and we discussed the top 6 horrible holiday songs. I hear your pending question and six makes for really good math with three hosts.
Otherwise, I took in a little shopping, some really good Cuban food from Pepo's Cuban Cafe, and spent the rest of the time editing two podcasts that should release this month. The one recording from yesterday should release this week, and a recording done the previous week should release between the two impending holidays.
I fell asleep next to my youngest bin lid to the sounds of Tim Allen and the first installment of the Santa Clause (back when we all rather liked Tim Allen, I would like to believe that he is mostly harmless) - I thought the movie was well done and was funny for both kids and adults.
One last thing, I did ask Amazon music to play songs from 1971, and I must say there were some bangers that year. The number one song on the day of my birth - "Family Affair' by Sly & Family Stone. So, I got that going for me.
Day 6 (retro)
Retro means I missed my post. I juggle a lot and some things fall off the radar. That's the way it is, get over it.
Day 6 was one of those days, indeed. The workday began blearily at 5am with some incredible shots done in slow motion without the use of any theatrical gimmicks - basically, I was moving at a speed somewhere between a slug and an athletic snail. It was not pretty.
An eyeroll thank you to our friends at Apache and their security vulnerabilities. Another version has emerged, and the powers that be want it updated as of yesterday. I do not fault the powers that be, I work in a rather large organization and that makes us a target for the hackers and thieves out there (wasn't that the title of a Cher song?).
But then I roll into another gig where we are implementing MFA (that would be mother fucking authentication, according to Samuel Jackson) at the desktop level for remote users. Why? Because this is what the world has come to.
Finally, I did wrap up the day with a Netflix special starring Phil Wang doing standup. He was quite good - give him a shot. Followed by an early bedtime before 9pm - and on that day, I owned it and my last thought was, "I wonder what the discounts are for an AARP member... asking for a friend."
Day 5
Eventually, I will lose count. That usually happens somewhere after the twenty-first day.
It was another day of dragging myself around (Petty/Nicks not included) with the usual drama of the Apache Logjam variant running loose. Did I mention this already? It has permeated my week and all I can think of his Karl Hungus.
I took myself out for sushi, and I was terrible company. I almost threw a glass of water into my own face for the horrible things I was thinking in a public place. I swear, the nerve of some people.
What else? I learned about Solarbabies today - and maybe this was not a good thing to learn about, to be totally honest. You see, I do love Mel Brooks, and The Producers is my go-to movie when I need to be perked up - the one with Zero and Gene. I will start howling in the first ten minutes and all my cares wash away.
And now, it is time for sleep - not even 9pm - but hold back what you're thinking of saying. No nap today, but lots of work and a lovely conversation with a coworker.
I am sure there is something else I should have mentioned, but alas, my poor, sleep-deprived brain cannot go much longer - and do not stick around for the James Brown pop-up bit.
