I'm very tired and I have half a head ache but I just ate a vegetable like an adult and I'm hoping that helps make me feel a bit better.
It has been an incredibly long day. mostly in the sense that I have been pretty much moving nonstop, except for a little break in the middle. And I woke up a lot last night. First I was to hot then I was to cold. My legs hurt. I was very uncomfortable. But somehow I woke up and felt very energized and really good actually. I got up and showered and dressed. I felt like I looked very much like people’s idea of an art student and my hair was dirty but I still felt cute. It was slightly cooler out today, still not feburary temperatures but cooler then the last few days. Its going to settle back into the 30s this week so I'm glad I got to enjoy the global warming for a little while.
I left here and walked to school. I stopped at my studio to pick up a box and then headed right to school. I wanted to show Don the show and get his help and advice. He is wonderful and built me a shelf from scratch for my book and had a suggestion for the one poster I wasn’t sure what to do with. We hung up the one poster and discussed some parts of the show I was unsure about. But I felt really good after our conversation.
The whole morning was a lot of me working on stuff for the shop and running to go do something for the show. I sent out a long reminder email for our students, because they have a critique tomorrow. Don is very concerned because he thought they still hadn’t done their projects but about 5 of them today came in with more then we expected. He offered to come in tonight and help anyone. So I really hope they took advantage of that because he get into MCAD at like 6 in the morning so for him to offer up his night time like that is incredible to me. Also he wore this funny blue collar shirt today with little star bursts and it looks very disco. He said his wife says it bring out his eyes.
I cleaned up the wax booth and the digital lab. I chatted with students. I had some soup. It was a good day. At noon I went to the library to see Alana’s show. She embroidered some totebags and they were really neat. Allegra is her mentor so that’s a neat connection. Alana also made some really great cookies.
A little before 2 Don helped me hang the last poster and we discussed what I needed to get to finish the show up. A specific chemical that melts plexi so I can have a custom box for the objects. So I left there and walked to ace to look for it. I couldn’t find the exact thing but I think I got something with it in it. I also bought the super glue he suggested as a back up. Before I got to ace though I stopped over at the studios because there was a rumor of snacks! Bagels and coffee and fruit. Also more of Alana’s cookies!
I sat and talked with Maria and Jacob and we talked about butterfly penies of all things. The food was the best meal I've had in a while.
After ace I took the bus back up to school because I was really tired. I also had a package to pick up. Don wasn’t answering my texts so I got my package, left the chemicals in his office and headed home.
When I got home I also had my new leotard and tights in my mail box. It’s a long sleeve leotard and I'm very pleased. And my package I picked up was a stripped duvet cover for my down comforter. I love a horizontal stripe.
I laid down for a little while, but it was already 4 at this point. I did get like a power nap in and was up around 515. I fixed my makeup, got a snack, and headed out to catch the bus to U of M for more research.
I was feeling some kind of way about this trip because our teacher emailed us that we should be spending more time in the stacks and finding things we might not have considered. And I didn’t feel like doing that. I just wanted to edit. But once I got there, after getting lost and not being able to figure out how to get in the building, I felt better about finding stuff. I approached collecting quotes differently this time though. Finding the books, taking pictures of the cover, and then pictures of the full pages with interesting things on it. It made the whole thing go faster. I found some amazing books though. And Damon, bless his heart, came and asked what he could look up for me to help me out. I was focusing on doll house research tonight so he found a few of those. And complimented my choices on what I had picked out. Because of where I sat, on the comfy chairs, people had to walk by me a lot and I got a lot of smiles and goofy faces and also Cole fake kicking my laptop like a monster. Bianca also came over and gave me a great book he thought I would find useful. I love my class they are all so great.
I wanted to take the bus home, so I asked if I could leave a few minutes early. But then I left about 10 minutes to early on top of that. And I was cold because the temperature had dropped and the wind kicked up. so I walked an extra few blocks to waste time. I got the bus home and heard about a drive by shooting from a kid on the bus. but he said no one was hurt, just scared. I accidently got off the bus a stop to early. But I am home. And I made some green beans and now I'm going to go put coconut oil in my hair and go to sleep.
Tomorrow I hope to wake up early, wash my hair, go to the studio for an hour, go in to the shop for a while, then our student’s metal critique. And then finish anything needed for my show! Ah! Wish me luck everyone.
