#loftlocked

Hi gang, Pat here. Wanted to let everyone know that Loftlatched is now a part of FRAF: The Fruity Rumpus Asshole Factory! What does that mean? Firstly, check out THEIR ANNOUNCEMENT if you haven’t, especially that TRAILER. But mainly, it means I have a license to monetize my Homestuck-adjacent work. If you’ve noticed, I’ve been pumping out the updates the past 2 weeks ahead of this announcement! I thought the vibes of the most recent update were just too perfect for the whole bell tolling bit. lmao.

What do I plan to do with this license? What’s going to change? What does this mean?? Well firstly, calm down buddy! Not much is going to change, although there might be a lot more eyes on my work (scary). The biggest thing is, I have a PATREON now (also a BLUESKY and TUMBLR (this website lmao), but that’s not related to this, lol)! And I plan to make merchandise, eventually! Any money made from this patreon and merchandise will be in service to my continued work on Loftlatched. 

Also there's a FORUM now? For Loftlatched and all other FRAFworks, and HOMESTUCK-related content in general? I'm not sure how I will use it yet, but I'm playing it by ear! Loftlocked, the original comic, got its start on the old MSPA forums (RIP), so I’m pretty excited!

What I plan to post is behind the scenes stuff, and getting people's input on certain ideas. Maybe even a few sneak peaks on stuff I've been cooking. Also I plan to do commissions for artwork in Loftlatched/Homestuck style, or in my normal styles. I'll need some time to figure out the merchandise, so I'll definitely be taking suggestions for merch ideas! I have some gag ideas, but I’d rather have stuff made that I know for sure there’s interest for!

Fact is, I mostly work on this comic alone. And even though I get a lot of help from my friends and fellow Homestuck Fancomic creators, this is still basically a full time job for me! And that's scary cause I'm currently the sole breadwinner in my house, and having this be a source of income would help a lot! o-o 

A big thing I spend money on for Loftlatched is commissioning music (and occasionally programming and background work), and any money I make from Patreon and Merch will be going to that in addition to supporting me personally. I have like, an album's worth of music I plan to release once Act 1 is done, that’s been out of pocket, and it’s not exactly tenable in terms of my finances. (EoA1 is coming soonish btw! I promise it's true this time!!! Also a separate flash in the next couple of days!!)

Licensing stuff aside, I care a lot about this comic. I don’t spend a lot of time shilling my comic, but I do work on it constantly, and when I saw the opportunity to get more eyes on it, I had to take it. It’s been stewing in my brain constantly for about a decade, ever since I quit working on the original, and it's been a major focus for me for over the year and a half I've been working on this version. It started off as a fun personal project that I (rather obviously) put a lot of myself into.  I plan to keep doing stuff in that manner for however long it remains feasible to do so, even with this potential shake up in the status quo. More attention might mean some stuff changes, likely how I interact with the fandom.

So, while Loftlatched might get a lot more attention, whatever happens I want to thank everyone for their continued support. I want to thank the FRAF team and Andrew for this opportunity and I hope to make the most of it! I especially want to thank my family and my friends who have been very patient with me and supported me throughout.
