I'm thinking about Lodan again and I just. He doesn't get any real development, and we don't see him in any of the epilogue scenes, but I can't help but imagine how fucked the war must have been for him.
He's outside of the Seven Vales for (presumably) the first time ever, and it's to march off to war. His parents and his uncle are on a suicide mission on the other side of the continent.
The Amar Kabal meet up with the army from Trensicourt, and he gets to catch up with Rachel and hear about what his parents have been up to the past few months. A few nights later they get word that Drake died, and it's very likely the first time Lodan has ever had to deal with a family member permanently dying.
Cut to the night Jason gives Ferrin the prophecy. Rachel is gone, and Lodan was recently appointed to be Galloran's new bodyguard. Ferrin and Tark show up to give Galloran the prophecy, and it's this great moment. They've finally found a way to beat Maldor. Ferrin has to turn to Lodan and tell him that his mother's Amar was damaged and that she might be gone forever.
