Behind the name that's front and center in North Carolina's Lumbee Indian community.
The Lumbee Tribe has a complicated history. They formed from the remnants of various Siouan, Algonquian and Iroquoian-speaking tribes, according to the tribe’s website, after Europeans decimated most indigenous people. To date the tribe has only partial federal recognition, though the U.S. House recently passed the 22nd iteration of the full-recognition bill. And yet this complex people have ended up with one dominant name: Locklear.
Exactly how familiar is the name?
“It is the most common name,” tribal registration staffer Jane Barnhill confirmed November 12 (enrollment manager Reena Locklear was out). Thirty years ago, when the Baltimore Sun asked, 19 percent of enrolled members were Locklears.
If you’re a Locklear, “99.9 percent of the time you have ties to this community,” said Lawrence Locklear, director of UNC-Pembroke’s Office of Student Inclusion and Diversity. “It’s very unique, but it’s very tied to this community.”
Where did the name come from?
No one knows, linguist Walt Wolfram said. James Locklear, publisher of Native Visions magazine, proffered two theories: Ireland or France, the latter from LeClair. Lawrence said it was an English name. Either way, a European man likely married into the tribe, James and Lawrence agreed.
OK, but is Heather Locklear a Lumbee Locklear?
Yes, her publicist confirmed. And among the Lumbees, everyone knows it. “Her grandparents left Robeson County about 150 years ago for work,” Lawrence said.
Famed local mini-chain Fuller’s BBQ used to have a picture of Heather on the wall, James said. Fuller’s? “They’re Locklears, too.”

I just need to share my joy over a French event that is taking place during the week end. Well, they started last night.
The ZEvent. French Youtubers doing lives on Twitch to collect donations for an association. This year, it’s for Amnesty International and in more than a day, they already get 1 million euros !
I’m putting a link if some people are curious, it’s the foundateur of the event, Zerator : https://www.twitch.tv/zerator but you can find more lives. All in French of course.
Voilà, just wanted to share some good vibes, because this year is... ouch. And it’s not over. So after Eden, we don’t have much to be happy nowadays.
Some more creepypasta art!
This time Doctor Locklear, as created by Madame Macabre!
Can do do if the creeps Mets Dr. Locklear
While most people usually brush off the creeps as myths, ghost stories or legends, Locklear’s always known better than that
He gets bored of hunting down the regular pedophiles, rapists and murderers and decides he wants a challenge
So lo and behold, he makes his way through the forest and accidentally totally intentionally stumbles upon the mansion
He’s not even the slightest bit discreet about his intentions
Bastard man practically kicks the door down and screams I’M HOME FUCKERS
Needless to say, he causes quite the stir
He fights BEN, who ends up teleporting away before getting stabbed in his already bloody eyes
And while Locklear is distracted, Jeff manages to jump him and hold him down
Both Jacks had heard of the vigilante doctor before (LJ because of his love for torture and EJ when he was still in med school)
BEN had briefly heard of him (because of the glory of the internet) but hadn’t bothered remembering the guy
Hoody had also heard the general rumours, and Sally knew him because of what he did to save those kids
But other than that, the others were pretty clueless as to why this guy had just barged into their home and threatened to murder a bunch of murderers
He certainly made a good impression tho
Locklear doesn’t remember much about that day tbh
Slender daddy makes sure of that to protect the mansion & it’s residents
The only thing that’s changed now is that Slendy keeps a semi-close tab on the docter, just to quietly steer him away from sneaking his back in
