Die 13-jährige Untersuchung von Flug 103 Ich muss zugeben, auch wenn das Thema insgesamt keinen Anlass zur Freude bietet, so hat es doch den positiven Effekt bei mir hervorgerufen, dass ich mich seit langem mal wieder für etwas „zu jung“ gefühlt hab, denn von der Geschichte hab ich bis vor ein paar Tagen noch nie etwas gehört. Wie gesagt, das wars dann auch mit positiven Punkten, denn bis zu den Anschlägen am 11. September 2021 galt das hier als größter Anschlag auf die USA. Um euch so kurz wie möglich abzuholen: Am 21. Dezember 1988 wurde ein Bombenanschlag auf den Pan-Am-Flug 103 verübt, bei dem alle 259 Insassen, so wie 11 Bewohner in Lockerbie getötet wurden. Lockerbie ist eine kleine Ortschaft in Schottland und zum Zeitpunkt des Anschlags befand sich Flug gerade darüber – daher auch der Name Lockerbie-Anschlag. Spätere Ermittlung haben dann vorerst ergeben, dass Libyen da scheinbar beteiligt war, auch wenn eine Beteiligung niemals offiziell eingeräumt wurde. Dennoch gab es eine recht große Entschädigungszahlung des Landes an die Hinterbliebenen (logisch, dass das aber so rein gar nichts in irgendeiner Weise wieder gut macht). Was die ganze Geschichte aber noch mal anders besonders macht: Die Untersuchungen haben ganze 13 Jahre angehalten, sodass es erst 2001 zu einer Verurteilung kam – gegenüber einem libyschen Geheimdienstmitarbeiters. As a completely random aside, one or two of Peter Sotos' writings (I think its moreso an interview with him, actually) turn up in the book Apocalypse Culture, so that might've been another way people were exposed to him (although that might tie into the low-brow gonzo scene you were talking about in one of your posts on him).
Yeah, I mean I was somewhat referencing that. It's maybe not the nicest way to describe that whole Adam Parfrey / Amok Press / Feral House stuff, but... idk it's not entirely wrong either lol.

People might be interested to know that Adam Parfrey is connected to another mildly suppressed book: "The Oklahoma City Bombing and the Politics of Terror" by David Hoffman.
The book was the subject of a defamation lawsuit in which Parfrey was pressured into destroying all remaining copies in order to avoid lengthy and costly litigation (this is known as "libel chill" - we'll talk about it later).

On Dec 21, 1988, Pan Am Flight 103, a Boeing 747, exploded in the air over the small town of Lockerbie, Scotland, killing 270 people.
On December 21st 1988 Pan Am Flight 103 was blown up over Lockerbie.
In total 259 people aboard the flight and 11 on the ground died in the crash which took place 38 minutes after take-off.
The debris from the aircraft was scattered across 845 square miles and the impact reached 1.6 on the Richter scale.
There isn’t a lot I can ad to this tragedy, I vividly remember watching the news that night 29 years ago, the fires that were caused by the crash lighting up the TV screen. The sight of the cockpit and police officers carrying bodies away the next day………
My thoughts are with all those still affected by the atrocity.
