June is not only known for being the pride month but also hosts International Environment Day (05/06) and is the first month of summer. I also was aware of the hate crimes that had been happening during the last year towards people of colour and the movements that have arisen like BLM (Black Lives Matter), Stop Asian Hate between others and this was one of my motivations to raise awareness by creating different posters and posting them on my Pinterest.

As warm weather comes, more people and especially women are ashamed of their bodies by the social paradigm that surrounds them, which causes an increase in alimentary disorders and mental dissisies. Nowadays only 30 out of 193 countries have legalised marriage between people of the same sex and people from the LGBT+ community face a higher risk of being assaulted just for their sexual and gender orientations. The fifth of June was International Environment Day and as I take ESS at school I have become even more aware of the issues that our planet is facing. On top of that, one of my biggest concerns is racism. As an Asian girl, I have dealt with all kinds of comments and been in uncomfortable and very offensive situations and one example of this was when I was coughed on by a couple of kids my age last year in a university fair. I had already experienced certain microaggressions but this really offended me, especially considering that people were starting to die because of COVID-19.

Because of these reasons I was motivated to create different posters. There are way too many movements I would’ve like to reflect in my posters and especially the ones related to antiracism, but I recently heard about how an Asian American woman was assaulted for no apparent reasons. Moreover, an article I read some time ago stated that ‘164% in reports of anti-Asian hate crimes in the first quarter of 2021 compared with the same period last year.’ The reason: COVID-19. Reading testimonies from different people or colour really resonated with me and so I centred my poster on the problems the Asian community is facing.

I tried to spread the message in a visually appealing way because there’s a higher probability of people reading them. I’m surprised by the good and quick results my posts have. (Over 100 shares / saves in less than a couple of days). This was mostly a creative process considering how I drew and wrote the text in all of the posters, but even though I enjoyed creating them, the thing I had in mind was to spread the message and raise awareness about these topics.

Rauschenberg greatly admired JFK and after his assassination he wasn’t  sure whether to still use this image of him, if any at all. His silk screen process always started with drawing imagery from popular, current media. Many believed that he is thinking digitally before there are digital, technological capacities.

CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP - Chosen Ignorance 2022

CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP (sometimes referred to as Chop7x or Chop 7 times) is a one-man band project producing cybergrind, noise, and industrial electronic music. "Chosen Ignorance" is a single released in December 2022, featured on the album We Live As Ghosts.

"Chosen Ignorance" received a total of 26,9% yes votes.

Nini Music - LongMa 2022

Nini, a distinguished musician hailing from Taiwan, has dedicated over two decades to mastering and performing traditional Chinese folk instruments. Her extensive experience has taken her on tours across Europe, USA, Canada, China, Japan, and throughout her homeland. Nini's innovative approach to music involves playing genres such as heavy metal, rock, and EDM on traditional instruments like the Ruan, Liuqin, and San Xian. She also performs on a unique electric lute known as the DaoYu, which she uses to create a distinctive and modern sound that bridges cultural and musical boundaries. Legends (2022) is an album of Chinese folk stories. LongMa (龍馬) means "Dragon Horse", it is a fabled winged horse with dragon scales in Chinese mythology.

Arooj Aftab - Mohabbat 2021

Arooj Aftab is a Pakistani singer, composer, and producer. She has worked in various musical styles and idioms, including jazz and minimalism. On the 75th independence day of Pakistan, President Arif Alvi awarded Aftab the Pride of Performance Award, Pakistan's most prestigious award for excellence in the field of art and music.

"Mohabbat" (Love) is an Urdu ghazal written in the 1920s by Hafeez Hoshiarpuri, a poet born in 1912 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India and died in 1973 in Karachi, Pakistan. The ghazal is based on the Hindustani classical Music raga Khamaj. Arooj Aftab released a version of it on March 16, 2021 as the lead single to her album, Vulture Prince. Aftab sings three couplets of the ghazal using vocal jazz techniques. Her rendition won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Performance at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.

Nomadi - Toccami Il Cuore 2011

The Italian band Nomadi have released eighty-two albums, including studio and live recordings and various compilations. Formed on June 13, 1963, they are the second-longest-lived musical group in the world, preceded only by the Rolling Stones, and the first-longest-lived Italian musical group, with over sixty years of activity. Having sold a total of 15 million records, they are the third-best-selling Italian band, preceded by Pooh and Ricchi e Poveri.

Cuore Vivo is their twenty-ninth studio album, released on June 7, 2011. The album is a collection of the band's songs from 1967–1977, reinterpreted in a modern key, with the addition of two previously unreleased tracks. It was the last album released with Danilo Sacco as a member of Nomadi; the singer left the band a few months later, at the end of December 2011. It's worth noting that this album features Sacco's singing the least compared to any of their previous albums.

Mora Sti Fotia - To Pehnidi 1988

Mora Sti Fotia is a Greek rockband, formed in 1984. The self-titled debut album was released in 1987. It had a great impact and is today considered one of the most important albums of the Greek rock scene. Their importance lies in the Greek lyrics, rare for the time, the intense socio-political content of the songs and Stelios "Salvador" Papaioannou's distinctive voice. Their first album in particular contributed significantly to the rise in popularity of Greek-language rock during the 1990s. A long period of absence from the studios followed, with many changes in the lineup and only Salvador as a constant member. The second album, Theatrinoi, was released only in 1999.

The song "To Pehnidi" portrays a gritty, atmospheric story set in a dangerous city, where the narrator is armed, paranoid, and avoiding shadowy enemies. It explores the dark underbelly of society, corruption (such as the black market), and the concept of "everyone against everyone" in the harsh game of life. The lyrics deliver a powerful existential nihilism mixed with a rebellious resolve to play the game as well as you can, knowing that everyone ultimately ends up defeated.
