The Invisible Library series by Genevieve Cogman is a fantasy world-hopping series has that special Community feeling of subtly switching genres with each new book in the series. You’ll get Venezian balls, politics, heists, and who even knows what else! Also with some various cheeky cultural references.
If what you want is a team of disasters grudgingly becoming a family, can I recommend Space Sweepers? This movie is about the crew of a spaceship that finds a child, means to sell her off to the highest bidder (they think she’s a WMD), and adopts her instead, all while fighting Space Elon Musk!
Or maybe you want found family AND college students being absolute disasters, in which case you can’t go wrong with Year of the Griffin by Diana Wynne Jones, which is about a fantasy world trying to figure things out after getting rid of the man who was exploiting them for decades, focusing in on Fantasy Oxford, and is also hilarious.
