Lloydia serotina (Liliaceæ) is an arctic-alpine plant species distributed across western North America and Alpine Europe. In Britain, it is a relic of the glacial flora, and now survives only on a handful of cliff-faces in the mountains of Snowdonia, North Wales. For this reason, it is now known in British English as the Snowdon Lily, while its Welsh name is brwynddail y mynydd- 'rush-leaves of the mountain', and an older English name is mountain spiderwort. Despite heavy losses in the number of bulbs in the Victorian era due to the craze for plant collecting, the small population retains higher genetic diversity than those in the Alps. However, this will not be enough to protect the Snowdon Lily from climate change; it is predicted that it will be the first plant species in Britain to go extinct due to temperature rises.
