Wanita Hutan Part 2- Boromir x OC
Boromir x Citra
Description: Boromir doesn’t know how to stay down after battle, which understandably upsets Citra.Â

He’s gone. Boromir was gone. Not dead gone though. He was literally missing from his bed in the healing wing of the MapleElm palace. Any happiness Citra had coursing through her veins vanished instantly, now replaced with panic. That wasn’t right. He should have been resting, he had literally died after all.Â
It had been only a few weeks after the Fellowship of the Ring had left MapleElm. The Wanita Hutan had been recruited by Gandalf via letter to aid Rohan in a battle in Helm’s Deep against a new army of Sauron called the Uruk-hai. Though the Wanita Hutan had never associated with any other kingdom for the most part, the desperation in Gandalf’s letter is what moved the Queen to agree to offer aid, and sent out soldiers.Â
Citra had been a part of the group of soldiers sent, being there to assist the healers in anything they’d need. On their way there, someone (Citra wasn’t quite sure who) exclaimed that there was a boat from Lothlorien floating down the great river Anduin, which the soldiers had been following on their way to Helm’s Deep. Something was off about it though. Why was it empty? The soldiers looked amongst themselves, then decided to reign it in after a brief debate. Citra watched curiously, then was shocked to hear that it was the Steward of Gondor that she had professed her love to just a few weeks ago. It was Boromir.Â
At first, she was heartbroken. She hadn’t known pain as much as when she witnessed Boromir laying dead in the boat with his sword in his hands. Three small wounds adorned his body, most likely from arrows. The more Citra stared at him, the more tears began to blur her vision. She nearly jumped out of her skin when Reza, the captain of their fleet, rested a hand on her arm. The woman offered her a sympathetic smile that she couldn’t bear to look at while she said that they had to move on if they were to reach Helm’s Deep in time. Citra hesitated, but ultimately nodded and began walking towards her horse when she heard a fairy healer speak.Â
“He’s still alive,” she said, sounding shocked. In an instant Citra whipped around and demanded that she explain herself. The healer, Rayla, said that she could still hear a very faint heartbeat deep within him. He was still alive! Without a second thought Citra turned to Reza, begging that he be taken to MapleElm and healed. Reza was very hesitant at first, but ultimately agreed. Citra went back to the forest with them, though she wasn’t allowed in his room as the healers began working their magic.Â
It was nearly a full twenty-four hours before the healers were able to bring him back and stabilize him. Thankfully Queen Indah very graciously excused Citra from her position so she could be with Boromir while his body did the rest of the healing. And she refused to leave the man’s side. Every single day she sat with him from the moment the sun came up to when the entirety of MapleElm was already in bed. While there she decided to talk to him, hoping vainly that he would wake up from hearing her voice. Topics ranged from her talking about her day to her silently begging him to wake up, wanting to see his gorgeous blue eyes she so adored.Â
The best day of her life was when Boromir woke up. It had been a seemingly normal day. Citra had been taking a break from her daily talks with Boromir when it happened. Granted, it was only for a few seconds, but in those few seconds that he had been vaguely conscious, he said a single word.Â
“Citra,” he breathed out weakly, which made her almost jump out of her seat as she moved closer to him. For a moment she thought that it had been a hallucination, but then Rayla ran in saying that she could hear Boromir’s heartbeat spike for a split second before returning to its normal slow pace. Citra most definitely didn’t want to leave his side after that.Â
But then Queen Indah had gotten word from King Theoden (under suggestion from the Fellowship) about the battle that would be taking place in Pelennor Fields right outside of Gondor and was requesting aid from the Wanita Hutan. Because Denethor, the reigning Steward of Gondor, hadn’t been the one to send the call for aid, Queen Indah was hesitant to comply. It wasn’t until they also received word from Gandalf begging for her help that she finally began sending out soldiers once again.Â
Only few were left behind in MapleElm, those being the ones who hadn’t been trained for battle yet and a few healers that would help when the Wanita Hutan returned. Citra wasn’t a part of either of those categories, so she was forced to fight as well. She begged Queen Indah to let her stay, to let her be with Boromir until he awoke, but to no avail. Every available soldier was needed, so off she went with the others.Â
The battle ended up being successful! The Wanita Hutan had provided enough aid that Gondor reigned victorious as the One Ring had been destroyed by Frodo. Celebrations were shared between everyone before the soldiers began going their separate ways to tend to the wounded as well as prepare for King Aragorn’s future coronation. The Wanita Hutan were all in good spirits as they returned to the MapleElm Forest, where the Queen and council were there to celebrate with them before going off to discuss something. As the excitement began to die down Citra decided to go check on Boromir and hopefully tell him the good news (if he was awake) which is what led her to this point.
Citra ran through the halls of the MapleElm palace in a panicked state. Netra wasn’t far behind her, though she was trying to calm her sister down rather than panic as well. The elder Underlake burst into the throne room, where the Queen and council were discussing something, likely the trip they would be taking to Gondor. Upon the girl’s abrupt entrance, they instantly quieted down and faced her in shock.Â
“Citra,” Annisa started, but was further surprised when the girl cut her off (something that she never did).Â
“Where is he?” She demanded, alarmed and sounding as if she were on the verge of tears. “Where has the Steward of Gondor gone? Has he-”Â
“Citra,” Indah called firmly, instantly silencing the girl. She stood from her throne and walked towards her, ultimately resting her hands on her shoulders when she reached her.Â
“Sir Boromir hasn’t been in MapleElm for almost a month,” she explained, which made the girl freeze in place. “He thanked us for our help in his revival, informed us that he was going to go fight for Gondor as well as look for you, then left when the final fleet of Wanita Hutan left the forest.” Citra had no idea what to say. She was expecting them to say that his health had ultimately failed and he had passed while she was gone fighting. The absolute last thing she anticipated was them saying that he had willingly left while he should still have been resting.Â
“What?” She asked, almost breathlessly. “But…but I thought that he was still healing.”Â
“He was, but he insisted on fighting as well. It’s not like we could really force him to stay, Citra.” Logically, she knew that the Queen had made a logical point, but that didn’t make her any less upset. Without another word she walked out of the throne room, actively moving out of her sister’s reach.Â
Her mind was reeling with this information. Surely Boromir hadn’t been that idiotic that he ran blindly into battle without being fully healed, right? Wrong. Despite her continuing to look for him, she knew that he was too valiant to not fight in arguably one of the biggest battles in all of Middle Earth. But she didn’t want to believe it because that meant two things: 1) there was a very high chance that they literally crossed paths and didn’t know/realize it, and 2) there’s also a huge chance he died in the battle. She didn’t even want to consider the second part, it was just too painful. Yet, it was still a very real possibility. He likely hadn’t been fully healed before he went off to battle, and that would hinder him significantly against the enemy. Citra felt her heart shatter into a million pieces for the second time in a matter of months.Â
Citra stood at the forefront of the Wanita Hutan in the Pelennor Fields along with Indah and her council. A proud look appeared on her face as Gandalf placed the crown on Aragorn’s head. It truly looked like it belonged there.
“Now come the days of the King,” the wizard announced with a proud smile. “May they be blessed.” The entire field erupted in cheers and applause. Aragorn, meanwhile, walked up the steps and turned towards the crowd.Â
“This day does not belong to one man, but to all,” he announced, holding his arms out a bit. “Let us together rebuild this world, so that we may share in the days of peace.” That caused the people to cheer and clap once more. Petals began falling down upon everyone, which made the scene all the more magical. She tore her gaze away from Aragorn as he began to sing the song of Elendil and her eyes scanned the crowd idly.Â
After he sang, he began walking towards the people. Faramir and Eowyn bowed low to him followed by Eomer. Once he returned the gesture, he faced the Wanita Hutan.Â
“Words cannot express how grateful we are for all of your help during our journey,” the King spoke truthfully, bowing to her as he had done to Faramir, Eowyn and Eomer just moments ago. “Thank you.” Indah stepped forward then bowed to him, followed by the rest of the Wanita Hutan in thanks for his kind words. Wordlessly, he beckoned Citra forward, which she did after shooting a confused glance at Indah, who offered her a knowing smile.Â
“There is someone waiting for you to your left,” he muttered just loud enough to hear before moving away. Citra only became more confused, that is until she turned to her left. Her eyes widened as she realized someone she held very dear to her heart was standing there, watching her with a patient smile. Instantly the rest of the world fell away to Citra as she stared at him in shock.Â
“Boromir,” she whispered. It was as if the man could hear her voice because he held his arms out for her. Without a second thought she began walking over to him, gradually picking up her pace until she was almost running at him with full force. She slowed herself down just before she reached him so that she wouldn’t knock him over, then basically jumped into his still open arms.Â
“I can’t believe it,” she whimpered, looking up at him through her happy tear-filled eyes. “You’re alive.”Â
“I am,” he whispered, a bright smile gracing his face. “And so are you. You look absolutely radiant, Citra.” The girl blushed at his compliment, then shook her head amusedly.Â
“You are the only one I know that could almost die twice in a row then flirt with me right after seeing me.”Â
“Oh, don’t pretend like you don’t find it charming,” he retorted, mimicking her mirth. The girl shrugged, hugging him closer to her.Â
“Maybe so,” she muttered before her amused expression molded into a more vulnerable one. “I missed you so much.”Â
“And I missed you as well. Every moment without you felt like an eternity. And now that there is no longer a threat to us, I can finally say that I love you without fear.” Citra’s heart soared at his words, and without thinking she leaned up and kissed him passionately. He was quick to reciprocate it, but was ultimately the one to pull away for air. Citra didn’t mind though, she simply rested her forehead against his as a sign of affection.Â
“I love you too,” she muttered genuinely, receiving a chuckle in response before he pressed a kiss to her forehead, holding her even closer as they turned back to the King. Nothing could ever dampen Citra’s mood ever again because he had kept his promise. Boromir had returned to her.
