🍔 Review № 476 ━ 📍 TK Burgers ★★★☆☆ • The small food wagon TK Burgers can be found in various places around Linköping, but during the summer months they move out by the beautiful Bergs Lock’s in Göta Canal. There they serve a handful of different burgers, including a vegetarian and a vegan option. We ordered a TK, which contained two 130-gram beef patties, cheddar, bacon, pickled red onions and truffle mayo. The burger itself cost 110 SEK (12.5 USD), and a meal with french fries and a soft drink cost 135 SEK (15.5 USD). • The burger came in a classic brioche bun that was nicely toasted on the inside. The double patties were pretty hefty – 260 grams in total – but they were a bit overcooked and pretty crispy on the outside. They were completely cooked through, and we would have liked for them to be a bit softer and juicier on the inside. Apart from a few chewy parts we enjoyed the taste at least, and the fat content was nice and high. The bacon was salty and flavoursome, but was pretty hard and chewy as well. We liked the acidity of the pickled red onions, which really spruced up our meal. It also really cut through the truffle mayo, which could be found both in the top and bottom part of the burger. Thankfully the truffle amounts were pretty well-balanced, so it didn’t overpower our tastebuds either. • We left TK Burgers with a feeling that it really should have been slightly better. The view over Göta Canal was stunning and we liked their low prices, but the many small mistakes really held them back. 🍔 Review № 480 ━ 📍 Kanalkrogen Delimo ★★☆☆☆ • Kanalkrogen Delimo have a large restaurant with an equally large outdoor seating area just by Bergs Lock’s in Göta Canal, just north of Linköping. They call themselves “Sweden’s first ice-cream and gourmet burger restaurant”, and proudly present their menu with 20 burgers made with dry-aged beef. Both the ordering and payment processes are done with tablets that they provide, which worked alright until we had a few questions, at which point we had to try to get some answers from the friendly but somewhat uninformed staff. • We ordered a Linkan burger, which according to the menu was a cheeseburger with “loads of melted cheese”. But it also turned out that it included lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickles and a burger sauce. It cost 189 SEK (21.5 USD) including an order of french fries. The burger came served in a classic brioche bun, but it was immediately obvious that the beef was dry and compact. The 180-gram patty was chewy and had hardly been seasoned at all, shattering our hopes of a tasty dry-aged beef burger. The cheese was artificial and had hardly melted at all, and it was actually the classically sweet burger sauce that stood for any creaminess. The brioche bun hadn’t been heated, making it soggy on the inside from the sauce. Thankfully there were some positives, such as the fresh and crispy vegetables. And the french fries tasted nice, and had a crispy shell. We didn’t like the stodgy dip sauce though. • The best thing that Kanalkrogen Delimo has going for it is actually their many ice-cream creations and the great view of Göta Canal, because their burgers were quite expensive and not very tasty. 🍔 Review № 424 ━ 📍 Booya! Burger Business ★★★☆☆ • Booya! Burger Business opened in the centre of the Swedish city of Linköping in the beginning of summer 2020. The nicely decorated restaurant serves 9 different burgers, including 7 with chuck patties (which can be replaced with a Swedish halloumi style cheese). We ordered a Mother Bacon with honey marinated bacon, cheddar, tomatoes, red onions, lettuce and mayo for 105 SEK (12 USD). We also ordered their sweet potato fries for 35 SEK (4 USD) and a Side Deluxe (fries with melted cheddar, burger sauce, bacon, white onions, tomatoes and jalapeños) for 45 SEK (5 USD). • The first thing we noticed was the really good looking and nicely toasted bun. It looked like a brioche bun, but turned out to be more of a slightly dry wheat roll. The patty was quite flat and the beef was too finely ground, which resulted in it being quite dry and not very tasty. Since it was also rather small, it couldn’t really stand out against the other ingredients either. The bacon was very soft, but had a nice and sligthly sweet taste. The other components were fine, but nothing really stood out. The sweet potato fries were crispy and tasted great, but the highlight of our meal was their Side Deluxe. It was filled to the brim with great flavours, and the bacon, cheese and spicy jalapeños really made it shine! • Booya! Burger Business are off to a good start, and serve a decent burger. You can find all our reviews (300+) on Burgerdudes.se. — Hörnan Bar & Käk (★★★★☆) — Hörnan Bar & Käk is located close to Stora torget in Linköping, and looks more like a regular Swedish pub than a trendy burger joint with smash burgers, freak shakes and craft beers. · We visited them in the afternoon and were treated to their after work menu where the burgers cost 129 SEK (about 14 USD), including french fries and a dip. So we ordered a simple Kermit burger with cheddar, ketchup, mustard, white onions and pickles. · Our burger came served in a metal basket, and looked really great. The bun was nice and shiny, the meat had an excellent crust and it was built with care. We really enjoyed the juicy and excellently seasoned and smashed patty. · We also liked the feel of the burger in our hand, and it was obvious to see that it had been prepared and built with love. Our main critique was that the patty should have rested a bit before being placed in the burger. Instead, it was placed – still dripping – directly on the bun and made an unnecessary mess.
