Big captain handling little captain (and Mo)
i'm so tired of inconsistent refereeing in this godforsaken league every one of these fucking idiots changing their minds between games there's no hell hot enough i'm learning to drive solely to hit these men w my car
Jamie, injecting a little childish "joie de vivre" into Gary Neville's life
well. it's been a *day*
our train was cancelled, as were the successive ones. we tried to drive to liverpool and it was too dangerous so we turned back. we finally got the one train that seemed to be running and made it to liverpool
we got drenched and cold walking to and from the stadium (as obviously roads are closed) despite our many layers and waterproofs. it was very icy and slushy - could easily have slipped, nowhere had been gritted
the atmosphere in anfield was flat for the whole game (other than the immediate aftermath of the penalty). like, sorry everyone who watched at home, but in the stadium everyone was freezing and still reeling from our stressful journeys - a good atmosphere was going to be a challenge.
for fans and stadium staff, the safest thing to do would be to postpone the game. getting to anfield was genuinely dangerous
for the players, the sensible thing to do would be to postpone the game (must have been such a psychological challenge to think the game is getting called off, just for it to then go ahead)
it went ahead because sky want their broadcasting and advertising money, and the club didn't want to make a massive loss either. fan and player safety was not the paramount concern
this banner in the kop I feel summed that up
the result aside, the match shouldn't have gone ahead, and I think all the chaos impacted the players' mindsets too
(and afterwards there were man utd fans gleefully chanting 'hillsborough, they should d*e'. I was so very angry)
so yeah. not my favourite afternoon at anfield unfortunately. but hey - we remain top of the league and I think everyone stayed safe. we go again
