22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch. 24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. 25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him. 39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
Who is your Jesus? What Messiah do you believe in? This is important question to ask your self this holiday? There is a split going on right now between believers of Christ. There is a split between those that follow the Commandments of God and those that preach the law is not for us. There is a split amongst us on which Jesus will return not only in believers but amongst His disciples. Is Jesus returning in absolute love or is Jesus returning with a sword? This is the same question the Jews faced during Jesus time. Most Jews were looking for a warrior King like David or a warrior Priest like Juda Maccabee. This was the scene taking place in John.
The people had doubt and were confused, the messiah that they were expecting was a political messiah. He was to be King and drive out their enemies by force. This is what they read and the pieces of scripture they understood to be true, so they doubted Jesus claim of being the Messiah. Jesus saw those doubts and answered those doubts by preforming the works He did. He even read in the synagogue Isaiah 61, and stated it had been fulfilled and that He was truly the anointed one by prof of His works. But this is not what the human heart desired, so the suffering servant was rejected.
But Yahveh created living stones in those days. Stones that were raised up to praise and accept the words Jesus preached. They heard His voice and knew Jesus was the Messiah. They accepted the son of David that was meant to suffer for our sins and He accepted them as his sheep.
Now we are faced with this same question again. Jesus is speaking loud and clear to His sheep and anointed disciples. They have become the sacrificed lamb’s eyes, ears and lips. They are the voices that are speaking in the wilderness far away from churches and synagogues. They are preaching repentance and obedience of Yahveh’s law. They are sharing the works and messages that Jesus has given them and shown. They are revealing they warrior King that is to return. But once again God’s people are rejecting Him. Once again they are picking, choosing, and teaching scripture about a King that is not coming. But this is how Jesus knows His sheep from the goats. This is how the righteous will be given eternal life. The great falling away is here and has already begun. Will you accept the Jesus that Yahveh wants you to know? Or are you accepting the Jesus that the world gives you?
I tell you now brothers and sisters to stay close to the word. Read your bible every day. Every minute you get a chance read it. For the Lord is opening up scripture to His sheep and the Holy Spirit is giving instructions on the word. Jesus is speaking loud and clear to us. Keep in prayer for all people that they may accept the King that is returning with a sword and bow upon His war horse. May you all rest in God’s great peace, Shalom.
