One of the biggest problems I have when it comes to working out is continuing to challenge myself and push my body to new levels. Through this challenge I have tried just about any and everything you can to do this. The one thing that has always worked for me is incorporating competition into my workouts having someone to compete with to push you is by far the greatest motivation.
Playing football most of my life I've learned to thrive in competitive situations. I always found myself doing little things that made me push myself like working out with the lineman or linebackers and always making it a point to go against the best Receivers on our team. Things that may not seem like a big deal but ultimately improved my performance and made me a better player. And now I use this to improve my training and reach new fitness goals.
Since ending my football career I have turned to finding workout partners that don’t only push and motivate me but hold me accountable for every rep, set, and intensity of every workout. But it can be hard to find somebody who’s schedule matches with yours and is always available to workout when you are. And thats why even when me and my workout partners aren’t able to workout together will still motivate each other by sending each other text about new PRs we might have hit, posting and tagging each other in videos of our workout we just completed. Continuing to motivate each other from afar.
