the   suggestion   of   marriage   from   the   emissary   was   something   that   had   been   weighing   on   the   high   lord's   mind   for   a   while   now.   yijun   had   never   considered   himself   to   be   someone   that   had   an   interest   in   seeing   people,   especially   seen   more   after   he   taken   over   the   high   lord   role.   truthfully   his   position   left   him   far   more   picky   on   who   was   even   remotely   an   option   to   him.   the   solar   courts   had   been   a   suggestion   to   the   high   lord   as   it   would   strengthen   a   bond   to   them.   however   he   hadn't   even   been   sure   that   was   truly   an   option.   it   was   far   to   early   in   their   meeting   to   even   think   about   offering   himself   to   one   of   the   other   solar   high   rulers   to   propose   a   marriage   to   one   of   their   siblings.

it   wasn't   as   though   there   was   truly   a   lack   of   fae   within   the   dusk   court   for   him   to   have   considered   in   the   past.   there   was   sure   to   be   plenty   that   wished   to   be   involved   with   him.   whether   that   had   been   about   getting   close   to   the   power   as   the   high   ruler   or   just   because   he   was   bonded   to   the   rarest   of   dragons.   it   definitely   wasn't   for   a   lack   of   being   asked   out.   it   was   that   he   had   chosen   to   not   become   interested   in   anyone.   focusing   on   his   court   before   allowing   himself   the   happiness   of   having   someone   in   his   life   in   that   way.

however   he'd   started   seeing   the   third   in   command   in   a   different   light   recently.   nyx   had   made   him   aware   that   erinya   was   particularly   interested   in   him   and   he'd   begun   to   wonder   if   there   was   a   connection   in   that   between   the   rider   and   the   dragon.   yan   was   a   safer   option   in   terms   of   him   seeing   someone,   seeing   as   she   was   a   dusk   fae.   though   thinking   about   the   complications   that   she   was   also   his   third   in   command.   it   was   too   early   to   be   declaring   that   any   of   it   was   good   or   bad   though.

╰   ♡   yijun   could   not   blame   the   dusk   fae   for   not   wanting   to   spend   time   with   the   fae   of   the   other   courts.   naturally   fae   tended   to   stick   to   their   own   court,   and   the   dusk   court   had   to   be   the   biggest   contender   in   that   given   their   state   of   remaining   hidden   from   the   rest   of   prythian   until   recently.   finding   the   third   in   command   alone   in   the   castle   wasn't   surprising   to   the   high   lord.   actually   he   quite   enjoyed   his   alone   time   as   well,   when   he   could   get   it   at   least.

the   third   commander's   answer   actually   helps   calm   the   nerves   in   the   dusk   lady.   there   was   no   way   that   she   was   of   that   much   importance   to   the   dark   mother.   though   aurora   had   also   confirmed   that   she   had   spoken   it   into   the   air   that   she   wanted   to   see   the   mainland.   aurora   was   certainly   more   connected   within   the   dusk   court,   and   then   there   was   their   high   lord.   he'd   been   actively   trying   to   integrate   the   dusk   court   into   their   society.   the   dark   mother   probably   had   taken   that   into   account.

"i   don't   know,   i'm   grasping   at   nothing   really.   i   never   really   thought   that   i'd   be   seeing   the   mainland   like   this."   when   she   had   admitted   to   the   spring   lord   that   she   had   wished   to   see   it   someday   she   certainly   hadn't   meant   being   tossed   to   the   mainland   without   her   getting   to   prepare   herself   for   the   journey.   it   had   been   hard   enough   to   leave   her   parents   behind   in   their   rural   town,   now   she   was   even   farther   from   home.

the   summer   court   and   their   obsession   with   water   was   one   that   the   mercenary   was   going   to   need   time   to   adjust   to.   the   fact   that   nearly   every   single   room   housed   some   sort   of   slick   pool   of   water   in   it   was   diabolical.   was   this   all   a   front   to   slow   their   guests   down?   can't   get   anywhere   quickly   when   you're   constantly   slipping   across   the   marble   tiles   of   a   pool.

"i   will   not   grow   used   to   the   need   to   have   this   many   pools   in   one   castle."   she   practically   whines   as   her   eyes   take   in   the   sight   of   the   third   in   command   of   her   very   own   court.   "i   can   probably   make   it   over,   i   do   not   love   this   use   of   marble   in   a   pool.   who's   idea   was   that   anyways?"
