oh my god
i still can’t believe this happened
i have no idea who i spoke with waiting in line for this photo op or if they’re even on this site, but we talked for like...thirty minutes and it calmed me down so i was actually able to enjoy this. i was having a panic attack sunday morning in the hotel and i was so sick to my stomach and crying and i wasn’t feeling much better when i first got in line, but this couple just helped me so much. i don’t know if they’ll ever see this, but i’m really grateful. thank you so much!
by the time the line started moving i was completely calm. i gave my bag to the workers and filed behind the curtain and waited. the line moved really fast and it wasn’t long before it was my turn. he’s so tall! like i knew he was tall, but that’s all i registered at that moment. i said hi, he said hello. i asked if he would hold my doll and he said sure. and then he started looking at it curiously and asked if it was a puppet or something and i said no, just a plushie i made. and he took another look at it, said “wow, okay.” and we took the picture. and that was that. he handed me back my doll. i was about to walk away, but then my brain clicked back on and i turned slightly, finally made real eye contact, and held my hand out for a handshake. his eyes were so warm and he has a good, firm handshake. and then it was over and i thought i’d finally collapse on the other side of the curtain, but it somehow never happened.
i found lolo right afterward (I FINALLY MET LOLO THIS WEEKEND BUT THAT’S FOR ANOTHER POST) and we both got in line for my autograph. i didn’t talk to him at all other than to thank him, but there was a wonder woman cosplayer in front of us who had him sign the photo she took with him. i hope it’s on here somewhere. she lassoed him and it was a pretty funny photo. they talked though i couldn’t hear what the conversation was, but i think she thanked him for taking the time to do that. and he laughed at something she said, so i got a chuckle out of that cos he has a great laugh.
my friend, lolo, and i walked around for a little while after that looking at the vendors and art tables, and then watched hiddleston and olsen’s panel. i really liked the format of it by the way. they weren’t being interviewed. the first half was them just having a conversation about marvel, i saw the light, and anything else that came up from that. the second half was audience questions and can i just say that that kid that asked if loki was really dead? what a fucking mood. i laughed so hard my stomach hurt. i thought the questions were pretty evenly matched between both actors and most of them were good and interesting questions.
we left the con after that and hung out in the hotel room with pizza until lolo’s boyfriend came to pick her up (he’s on here somewhere, isn’t he?).
the weekend was amazing though. i’ve never been to chicago before (i’ve hardly spent any time in any city really) so i got to see and do a lot of things i’d never done before. which i’ll make another post about later.
my story is pretty boring compared to some of the others i’ve read on here, but i’m so grateful it happened just the same and i would do it again in a heartbeat. this was one of the best times i’ve had in years.
