Hi, I am worried in a couple weeks I have to do the Literacy Test I am even more stressed now because I failed it last year and now worried that I will fail it again. I haven't told many people besides my parents because all last year people kept on saying don't worry it's easy you'll do fine. After knowing the results I had a minor break down in the basement of my school. I scared that I will fail. I just don't want to be a stupid failure. - Angela
Hi, Angela :)
I'm not sure what a Literacy Test is, but if it's anything like the FCAT (now called common core) testing we have here in Florida, it's unbelievably stressful. If you aren't able to pass the testing by senior year, you don't pass high school. For me, I study my butt off up until two days before a big test. Some people like to cram the night before, but I think letting your mind rest and getting plenty of rest helps clear your thoughts.
As someone who is a horrible test taker, are there classes or tutoring sessions you can do to help get yourself ready for this Literary Test? If there is, I definitely think that's a good thing for you (or anyone). I know it's difficult to let other's know that you failed. It's such a horrible word: fail. I think you should say that you had difficulties instead, because failing sounds so absolute and you have another shot to kick butt, for sure!
I think the one thing that would help you is to get it out of your mind that you're going to have the same difficulties as before. Having that mindset (and I know it's hard to just flip that switch and become optimistic) definitely brings you down. I wish you the best of luck, Angela!
Lots of love,Jamilyn
