Lipstick Plant or Lipstick Vine (Aeschynanthus micranthus) Native range is Bhutan to S. China where their brightly coloured flowers that are pollinated by sunbirds. This is a compact trailing plant with dark green pointed leaves; and narrow, small, dark red tubular flowers produced almost continuously in spring and summer and intermittently through the year. Needs a warm frost-free position, over 5C at least, avoid direct hot sunlight. Best results come from plenty of bright, filtered light and enough water. This one came from my sister’s nursery before it closed.. many years ago.
