But it's literally historically accurate! Mestizo, Black, Indigenous and I believe Chinese people made up most of the cowboys and cowgirls (because records show women drove cattle and helped or ran some ranches) of the era. I know white cowboys are the "norm" no thanks in part to spaghetti westerns and early western movies. Also much to the surprise of people social trail life was surprisingly egalitarian they shared sleeping quarters and blankets this doesn't mean they didn't face discrimination they did, it is after all the 1800s :/. I live for dispelling this sort of thing tbh.

“Funkytown” by Lipps Inc. was the very first record I ever bought and I still have it (somewhere). I was 11 years old and I remember standing outside the short-lived record store in my town next to Bella’s Restaurant, working up the nerve to go inside because it was all big (i.e. high school) kids in there. I recall a giant poster in the window advertising Led Zeppelin’s In Through The Out Door that I stared at until I forced myself to go inside. I asked if they had it and the kid behind the counter rolled his eyes, pulled the 45 off the shelf behind him and said “65 cents.” I plunked down every coin I had, grabbed it and ran. I was now a record collector.
So this one in the photo is a massive Mexican remix called “Pueblo Funky.” I’ve never managed to make it all the way through; nearly 13 minutes of “Funkytown” is an endurance test.
