Job Title: Linux Engineer
Description: Engineer with a heavy Linux background (RedHat or CentOS), strong in web technologies, ideally with a networking background as well. It’s a small shop, so they are looking for someone who can wear a lot of hats. On a day to day basis you will be handling maintenance and troubleshooting applications. Perl scripting is required so they can correct problems as they arise.Â
This person should be able to handle team lead responsibilities (you will be overseeing the night person and they expect this person to hire a more junior administrator this summer). The role will also take part in introducing best practices of application deployment, config management, monitoring and system automation. This person must be open to fielding the occasional off hours support call.Â
They prefer candidates that are not out of the financial industry and are comfortable in a start up environment. Comm skills are important.Â
Technical environment includes – (not all are required):Â
network switching (preferably with Juniper)Â
firewalls (preferably FortiGate)Â
Linux virtualization (kvm/qemu)Â
Amazon AWS (S3, EC2, etc)Â
* Exposure to any video related technology, especially HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) is Extremely useful.Â
