Mari knew the reason - or at least, the public party line - behind who had been invited to this week getaway. They were all people who had been close to Greer. Granted, there were a few people she had been side eying, considering she had no idea what they were doing there if that was truly the deciding factor behind the guest list. But then again, Mari had slowly, begrudgingly spent the the past year and a half coming to terms with the fact that she hadn’t known Greer nearly as well as she thought.
There were a few notable exceptions, as well. One of which perfectly led into the conversation she had to have with Link. Luckily, Mari was an expert at pretending, a facade on more often than not, so she greeted them with a smile, utterly casual despite the texts hanging over her head. “I don’t think I’ve said this, but I’m so glad you were able to come,” she said, letting out a carefully calculated with, her head angled, hair sweeping to one side as she stretched her neck - literally showing her throat, though the movement appeared as little more than swanning. “Would’ve been weird to have a party with Greer’s closest friends without you.” Mari paused, her nose scrunching up slightly, a delicate grimace crossing her face. “Awkward that the exonerated didn’t seem to make the list though, hm?”
