How do you put links linking to other post in your own post?
The process looks different on desktop vs. mobile, so Iâm going to show you both ways (on a computer and in the app) under the cut.
HOW TO CREATE LINKED TEXT ON A POST: A TUTORIAL
ON A DESKTOP/WEB BROWSER:
STEP 1: Create your post like normal. It can be any kind of post, but for this demonstration Iâm using a photo post and linking the text in the caption. The steps are the same for text posts, audio, video, etc.
STEP 2:Â Add your regular text.
STEP 3: Highlight your text, and the text options will pop up.
STEP 4: Click on that little squiggly infinity-looking icon to create a link.
STEP 5: You should see a little text entry bar that looks like this.
STEP 6: Open a new tab and go to the page of the post you want to link. If itâs your own post, just go to your own blog, find it, and click on the post notes. In most themes, that will link to the specific post URL.
STEP 7: Copy the post URL to your clipboard.
STEP 8: Paste the URL into that little text entry box you opened earlier.
STEP 9: Make sure to press âDoneâ after you paste the text!!! If you donât it wonât save the link.
STEP 10: If youâve done it right, you should see this options menu that says âEdit | Remove | Openâ. Save the post and youâre done!
ON MOBILE/THE TUMBLR APP:
(I will be using the iOS app on my iPad for this tutorial, but the process should look mostly the same on iPhones and Androids.)
STEP 1: Save the post as a draft WITH your text already typed in.
This is the HTML code that you can use to add a link to any text, both on posts and in your blog theme. [link] will be replaced with the link you want the text to go to, and [linked text] will be the words you want to show.
STEP 3: Find the post you want to link to, and click the tiny paper airplane icon on the bottom.
STEP 4: This little menu should pop up. Scroll the bottom bar to the right.
STEP 5: Click on the âcopyâ icon to copy the post URL to your clipboard.
STEP 6: Replace the [link] part of the code with the link you just copied, and the [link text] part with the words you want to show. I find it easiest to do this in my Notes.
STEP 7: Copy the entire code you just created to your clipboard.
STEP 8: Reopen the post in your drafts and delete all of the text you entered earlier.
STEP 9: Paste the code into the post.
STEP 10: Save the post and youâre done!
Thanks for asking this question friend! I hope this helped! âŠ
