Dec 2016, right after my grad school graduation, my dear friends Daniel, Amir, and I did a road trip around the Midwest, from Champaign, IL, to Carbondale, IL, Memphis, TN, Nashville, TN, Louisville, KY, then back home. Have a good laugh!

20 days, 1 car, 1 family, 6000 miles
6.5.15 - Day 20 - Champaign, IL - 394miles
And then that was the end of the trip. We stopped by Springfield, the capital city of Illinois before heading back to Champaign, but our conclusion was Champaign is much better. Springfield felt very run-down.
Really glad that mom and dad were able to do this trip with me, and I’m very proud of myself for making it happen (around 6000 miles!). The picture was taken at 3am in the morning when I was leaving for Oslo, Norway for my summer internship.
More journeys TBC.
6.4.15 - Day 19 - Kansas City, MO - 601miles
The storming weather chased after us all the way from Colorado to Kansas City. I’ve experienced 0 visibility in the heavy pouring rain/hail for hours.Right after we arrived at the hotel in Kansas City, several flash floods warning were issued nearby. Midwest is indeed a challenge for living. But the next morning, everything looks nice and beautiful again.
I do like the few hours we spent there. It’s a nice cute well designed city. The famous Kansas City Joe’s BBQ was such a let down, however. Texas still has the best BBQ in the world.
6.3.15 - Day 18 - Denver, CO - 98miles
Denver, one of the united states’ biggest cities, did not impress me much. The forests west to the city are much more prettier. Interesting scene in the street in Denver is these pianos for whoever wants to stop by and play. It is fun, artsy, and romantic. It’s a brilliant idea! But we are all wondering what happens when it rains?

6.2.15 - Day 17 - Vail, CO through Grand Junction - 256miles
Vail is such a gorgeous place! It looks so much fun as a ski resort even during summer. We made a stop on our way to Denver, sun bathed, got postcard, and had a lovely picnic. Colorado forests and snow mountains look amazing. 10/10 would come back again!
5.31.15 - Day 15 - Horseshoe Bend, AZ - 35miles
What an interesting but also vivid name.
5.30.15 - Day 14 - Marble Canyon, AZ - 129miles
After taking the bus from Grand Canyon to town and had dinner there, it was completely dark. The lodging I booked for us was still 2 hours drive away. Not gonna lie, it was not an easy/relaxing drive in dark mountains next to the cliffs. But next morning, this is what we saw.
