Lineality is a one-dimensional game. Like, literally. It’s just a line.
It’s a joke game, but it’s interesting to play it in context with Line Wobbler, another one-dimensional game that’s been showcased at gaming events for the past few years. Compared to Line Wobbler, Lineality has no progression or variation or really anything, but it does almost accidentally come up with the idea of using sound effects to explain what’s happening on-screen.
Lineality (read on The Obscuritory)
The whole thing is pretty ridiculous, and the game recognizes that. One of the game’s options makes the 1D line spin around in three dimensions. There’s also “depth mode,” in which you view the line head-on as a single pixel. It’s completely unplayable this way.
I’d have to imagine those silly options are included because the developer figured out how to do simple 3D and tossed it in for fun. It’s probably the same reason Lineality exists at all – doing it for the sake of doing it because it sounds funny.
