What kind of material agency does a pregnant body have? How do we distinguish ourselves from others? If an organism is defined by its capacity to exist in solation, how is the body of a pregnant woman classified? How does the maternal experience affect our subjectivity? Who embodies a mother? Linea video was produced by Anaïs Senli in collaboration with her partner Eirik Sördal, and the participation of various family members. The video explores their first months of motherhood during the pandemic, while entering into speculative terrain in order to go beyond personal experience. Linea Fusca proposes an aesthetic reflection on the political potential of an ethics based on human co-dependence and the value of care, understood as collective cooperation. The video also analyzes the experience of maternity from a phenomenological, posthumanist and hydrofeminist perspective in which the elements of flesh and water serve as a fluid connective tissue to generate speculative entanglements with human and more-than-human agents. Therefore, Linea Fusca reflects on the fluid interactions in our bodies of water and flesh to investigate reproduction as a process based on the experience of otherness, both during and after pregnancy.
