It is a three week cross country trip with Jake - summer has started to cool as it turns into autumn.
You aren’t sure how you both got your schedules to line up for three full weeks, but they did, and you both jumped into the car immediately bags packed.
You had a rough plan, but nothing concrete. Your goal was just to explore, kick back, spend time with each other.
Jake started off the trip really tried, but as the days past - you see him get more well rested. He is relaxed, entirely at ease after just two days - because he is with you. He gets to be himself, nothing else - not Lt. Seresin, not Hangman, not constantly zooming through the air, looking over his shoulder. As much as Jake loves to fly and saving the world with a smile - it does take its toll.
He’s started to let his hair grow, something he doesn’t usually do because of work, and the scruff along his chin, jaw, fading down to his neck.
He is entirely casual this whole trip - tshirts, hoodies, shorts, jeans, sweats, trainers, sneakers - and you love it 🥺🫠 because he looks so domestic (and still insanely handsome).
You both wander through towns, hikes, stroll through parks, fields, quaint neighbourhoods.
Jake holds your hand alot on a normal basis, but particularly on this trip, because he just wants to always he close to you (even despite spending 24/7 with you on this trip).
Nights are spent laughing, talking, watching tv, reading, cuddling, having sex - slow, fast, experimental, just being with one another.
You don’t have anything fancy this trip - but that’s okay, because it fits. You stay at small bed and breakfasts, small inns, drop into mom and pop diners, quaint family owned restaurants, local coffee shops.
You are honestly having the best 🥹 time of your life 💞
On the third last night of your trip, you are just a distance away from home - enjoying the last few evenings of just being with each other, taking it slow. He’s driven onto the top of a hill, the sun is almost setting - but not yet. There are a few random vehicles around.
You have both climbed onto the bonnet of the car, leaning back to watch the sun go down, when he suddenly says it “marry me”.
Your mouth has dropped open and you look at him in shock. He is pulling a box from his pocket, and he pops it open to reveal!!! a ring!!!!
He’s been carrying it around for 3 months now - but he had been on deployment just before this trip, so, he hasn’t gotten the chance.
“Ok” you agree of course, and Jake slips the ring onto your finger. It’s not fancy, or elaborate - but it is sincere, simple and perfect.
He cups your face with hands and tugs you in for a long, lazy, but searing kiss with the sun setting in front of you.

You peek in to see a devastatingly handsome blonde, now shirtless, hair sticking up, staring at the still deconstructed frame in front of him a screw driver in hand.
“Need some help there?”
“No.”
“Ok then,” you vanish back around the door, amused. You are used to Jake by now - man is as stubborn as a bag of rocks, and sometimes, it’s better to let him work through it himself. You learnt that early on.
You do however, spot the instruction manual lying at the corner of the room, and you subtly give it a kick back centre on your way out.
You get through the next quarter of the living room, slowly, when you hear a triumphant shout from the bedroom.
You venture over to see Jake with a third of the frame assembled, instruction sheet opened at his feet.
“Finally decided to use the instruction sheet?”
“Barely,” he would retort, “just you know, opened it for 5 seconds”
“Ok babe,” you’ll let him have it, but you know better.
“I’ll order pizza” - you tell him, and Jake hums agreement. You know it’s going to be a few hours more ahead of you both.
Now BONUS BOB - he would definitely read the instructions, even before he dives into it. He’ll gather the tools, make a plan, start with the biggest object first, and then the smaller ones, room by room.
You’ll have your house done in 4 hours, with minimal effort from you - because Bob is meticulous, smart and efficient - he knows the benefit of planning, being precise.
Bob will have your house set up in another 2 hours - mattress in, sheets on, pillows up, essentials plugged in (all easy to find because he would have packed sensible and well with planning). He’ll definitely have time to take you out for a casual dinner after before you both spend your first night at your new home <3

ldhfkdhdkfjak i feel like i have thought about this before, and i cannot remember if i came to a definitive answer in my mind or somewhere in my writing. but i am afraid to define this (for what reason i do not know)
i know the oldest would be a girl (as we have established multiple times), there are boys in the mix (maybe 2/3?). hmmmmmmm i want to say 4 or 5 - girl, boy, girl, boy, and the youngest definitely a girl (because i feel i have written something with the youngest as a girl before) OR girl, boy, boy, boy and girl.
