May 29th: The Lincoln Hotel
I had to leave Calgary early to motor down to Helena, MTās campus. I was meeting a local Montana Historian, Ellen Baumler, for lunch. Although we have been talking for the last couple weeks - this was our first meeting. Ellen, very generously, took me for lunch at a local cafe. She convinced me to order her favorite item - sweet tea & a salad with blue cheese āMERICAā, chicken and cherries. It was a strangely tasty combo. I first contacted Ellen in April, after my shocking trip down to Montana, where I almost died in a haunted brothel, from CO poisoning - and was also attacked by a medium that we had brought down with us for an event at Old Montana State Prison. I had become close with the spirit of William Hayes and she was helping me to find more info about him. After lunch Ellen took me over to an older part of Helena - where the old miners used to live. She wanted to test my intuition. I donāt ever claim to be a psychic, but have been told that I am a powerful medium. We walked up the street and instantly I could feel the presence of prostitution - so I mentioned it and Ellen pointed behind me, āThatās the brothel there.ā
We walked further up the street and she pointed one of the old buildings and started to talk about the man whom had resided there. At that moment, I felt like something had struck my frontal lobe. I mentioned to her that I believed the man had died from a head trauma. She concurred and I added, āFrom an accident, right?ā She said, āYES!ā and I was blown away! We went to another structure at the top of the road, but I didnāt pick up on too much up there. The last couple structures she took me to were two cabins that were adjoined. As we came through the back I started to question the structure of the building and the locations of the doors. She mentioned that yes, the front door was not the actual door, and that the cabin used to be two structure that they had connected after the fact. My Ghost Radar AP ( a word data base that spirits can manipulate - I have tested it and over the course of my experiences - I believe it to be an accurate tool ) mentioned the name GEORGE. Ellen turned to me and said, āthat was the name of the man who had lived there.ā At that moment I felt an icy band reach across the top-right-side of my head, and my face slumped. So, I asked if he had died from a stroke and she confirmed that! She asked what else I felt and I told her I could hear a child crying in the distance. I felt sick and said, āPerhaps the child had died from a fever/sickness.ā Thatās when she confirmed that the neighboring cabin had a 10-year-old girl that had died from measles. At this point I was yelling āShut up!ā completely surprised at how much I had picked up on. Like I said before - I donāt really consider myself anything but an empath. Impressed with my intuition, Ellen drove us back to the campus and took me inside the Montana Historical Society to give me one of her many books! I was beaming and gave her my thanks and we made plans to meet again in the near future!Ā ---- While writing this I just had a huge deja vu ---- Holy crap! Weird!---- The next stop was Butte, MT to pick up friends that I had met from the last event I put on at the prison. Dlynda and Tammy were waiting patiently at the Walmart for me and we all hopped in one car to make our way towards Lincoln, MT. But first, how could I resist the temptation to see Evel Knievelās grave? He was located right across the street in the Mountain View Cemetery. Adorned with all things āMerica the daredevilās headstone sat in the front row with a large bottle of Jack and two shot glasses. Picture perfect. The drive to Lincoln was a beauty, as it always is. The 200 is my favorite Montana highway - so far. It twists and turns through the forest right below our Crowsnest Pass and is breathtaking! Take this road people! I have been going to the Lincoln Hotel now for at least a year. The first time I stumbled upon the log hotel, was the day the owners had purchased the hotel. I have had the pleasure of investigating the whole thing prior, and knew it would be a great place to kick back, on the first day of my trip. The bartender Erin was there and met me with open arms. We took room 21 and commenced the party. Some people might argue about this, but I believe itās a good thing to have at least a couple drinks in your system before you go investigating. Iām not saying GET WASTED - bad idea, but a couple drinks makes me more open and loose. Same way I would deal with a blind date really. One prevalent character Lincoln has to offer is a man by the name of Prospector Bob. Heās always around and has the voice of Sam Elliot - we all agreed. We all headed out to the fire and Bob told us old mining tales. Sometimes he would forget where he was going with the story and fill in his blanks with laughable āARRRRRās. I love the man and canāt wait to go hounding with him next time. A few local construction workers joined us and we all got our drink on in the beautiful backyard of the Hotel. We were having so much fun, we almost forgot to investigate! Although, I did see a shadow peak around from the kitchen to the bar - which Erin confirmed is an occurrence that frequently happens to the owner, Roy. The night was quiet. Quite perfect. If you have never been to the old Lincoln Log Cabin - make sure to make the trip. If anything you might stumble across the old prospector for a tale and a Bud.
