"SER Y TIEMPO - Dos aproximaciones" is the title of the exhibition that brings together for the first time two of the great visual creators of Peru of all time, Martin Chambi and Fernando de Szyszlo, under a specific curatorial approach.
The show proposes more than 35 works between both artists. In the case of Chambi it is a selection of photographs, in medium and large formats, in traditional photographic chemical development in an exclusive edition from the original plates of glass of Chambi, exclusively revealed for this exhibition in one of the laboratories The most prestigious in the world, the award of the National Prize of Photography Juan Manuel Castro Prieto Spanish.
In the case of Szyszlo, it is a selection of works in acrylic on canvas, bronze sculpture, drawing and engraving, representative of the work hypothesis of the curaduría of the sample.
Chambi and Szyszlo exhibit in their works a particular ability in common to transmit, to impregnate the spectator with a special force, ancestral, territorial, vital, telluric and alive, with a drive for life and death as well; Seek to understand and explain an authentic and living identity, that mystical and inas- sible legacy of our culture.
Both, with their own visual languages such as photography and painting, have traveled through common pursuits, as is the intention determined to make the soul of things arise, using, to a great extent, the earth, the vestiges and evidences of Its civilization and culture, the conformation of the territory, the light and the shadows.
Martin Chambi, a Quechua man by birth, from his own nature developed a permanent questioning of the essence of Peru from the dimension of the Andean world. We see it in the destiny of his gaze, in the choices, boundaries and frames of his works, in the expressive sense he achieves from the shadows and the shadows, patenting that fundamental constitutive principle of the place, its strength and its history. Numerous examples attest to this, the archaeological sites Machu Picchu, Qoricancha, Ayaviri-Puno, Curahuasi-Apurímac, among others. Fernando de Szyszlo is one of the initiators in Peru of this great adventure of modern art, abstraction, is abstract, rather abstractionist, is not abstract; Of ancestral inspiration, telluric, inquires in its roots, the ancient Peruvian cultures symbolized, abstracted, essentialized.
