Summer 1979 @fauvehoof
There were a few things that made you reconsider your life, and being in the middle of a dark alley surrounded by enemies. However, what really got Jamesâ mind working wasnât the fact that he was firing spells and hexes right and left, Lily by his side. What really made him see clarity was being at the wrong end of Lord Voldemortâs wand.Â
What he did next was something James wasnât expecting, he was expecting a curse, an unforgivable one, yet what he got was far from it. What he presented to them was an opportunity to join their ranks, to prove their loyalty to the âright causeâ, even be so generous as to forget about the fact that Lily shouldnât be counted as one of them.
They had heard the stories, had seen his acolytes, but the man never showed himself until now. And James had to admit, the man had a presence about him, even if he was a fucking bastard. Anyone else might have accepted, but not them.
Which is why they ended blasting spells left and right against the Death Eaters that were left behind to clean the mess and disappear the evidence that someone rejected their leader.
They barely made it out, they were tired, scared out of their mind, and all that James could think about was how lucky they were, and how much he didnât want to lose Lily. He had mentioned it on the night, he had told her that he didnât want to spend another day apart thinking what might happen if he ever lost her.
He had meant it, it wasnât something spur of the moment, nothing impulsive was the moment when James Potter had told Lily Evans told her he would spend the rest of his life with her. But he knew that it would seem like that, until he said it later, at a proper time, where she knew, without a doubt, how he felt.Â
He had planned the day, he had asked her on a date, made sure he had a basket filled with her favourite snacks and meals and stood in front of the door of Lilyâs flat, nervous about what was about to happen.
