One of my ideas is for Lionel Jefferies. After tricking his way out of the mental hospital, Lionel plots his revenge. Instead of creating a race of Omega Creatures (a weird and out of pocket plot), he just wants revenge on his brother, Madison, for keeping him locked away for so long.

However he needs a job, but he can't go back to medicine because he can't get his licence reinstated.

The Canadian Government makes a deal with Lionel. They'll let him practice medicine, but only at their government run orphanage Hull House.

In 616, Hull House is an home for mutant orphans who are later inducted into Alpha Flight (often against their will). In this story it functions as a group home but also part of this new program by the Canadian Government in which parents with mutant children can give their kids over to the state if they don't want them. The government claims they'll help the kids learn to use their powers and make them fit for human society but in reality it's just a super human training camp.

The Canadian government hires Lionel to act as a doctor to the mutant patients. He works their whole doing super human villian stuff at night. He also forms bonds with several of the children.

Jared Corbo/Radius

Lilli Stephens/Ghost Girl

Eventually Lionel catches on to Department H's scheme. He decides to take the kids and run. They all live in his hideout, he trains them to use their powers, and is a surprisingly good father figure. They try their best to stay off Alpha Flight's radar and Lionel's quest for revenge is complicated by his new found family and paternal responsibilities.

And if I say all of them?

Ok not *all* per se but Alpha Flight is uniquely good at fumbling interesting characters (not quite as good as the X-Men tho). However, if I had to twist my own arm and say who has the most wasted potential… in no particular order:

1. Witchfire. I maintain Witchfire is the coolest name for anything I have ever heard ever, and so I think she deserved the chance to be cool as well. Her real name, Ananym, is also very cool. Idk Alpha Flight never really got around to properly developing her and I feel like she was wasted as a one time x-men villain. However, with Limbo under new leadership (Madelyne Pryor my beloved), it would be interesting for her to appear again, either as an antagonist (for context, Witchfire is Belasco’s daughter and has made claims on Limbo’s throne before) or in another role. I’d like to know what circumstances led to her switch from hero to villain, why she decided to follow in her father’s footsteps, is this something she’s doing by choice or does he have some influence over her etc. I think her and Maddie could get on well as allies. I also need her to get another redesign bc the last one they gave her was doing to much (marvel let me do it)

2. All the new characters from Alpha Flight 1997 (Jared & Adrian Corbo, Arlette Truffaut, Lilli Stephens, Manbot). Lumping them all together because I did make a very lengthy post about them recently but like. They’re so interesting, their origins are so intriguing and fucked up, I want to see their story finished and done justice.

3. Pathway (Laura Dean) and Goblyn. In terms of mutation and ‘the mutant metaphor’ I think these twins are really interesting- they’re both mutants but Laura’s mutation manifests later while Goblyn is very visibly a mutant from birth. Their parents keep Laura and reject Goblyn, they don’t even give her a name, but that’s not to say Laura got away free. She grew up knowing her parents hated mutants and then turned out to be one herself and lost her home. And they’re tiny, like they’re clearly so young and they wind up as superheroes because there’s nothing else. Bottom line they deserve better. Also they’re both really sweet and Laura’s powers are cool, so I’d like to see marvel at least remember they exist

You get my headcanons regarding the music tastes of the 97’ kids (somewhat accurate to the 90s i think)

Arlette: definitely Britney Spears, some Destiny’s Child, maybe a little bit of Alanis Morissette and specifically Just A Girl by No Doubt

Adrian: unironically listens to Weezer. Also really likes Bonnie Tyler but like, in secret. Jared can never know. But he has cried listening to Total Eclipse of the Heart and will do so again

Lilli: David Bowie and The Smiths, but also some older country music because she lived with her grandpa for a lot of her life and that’s what he liked.

Yesssssss my beloveds :)

1. Jared would be the one to suggest a horror movie, he’d deliberately pick one to try and freak the others out and then spend the whole time pretending not to be scared. Adrian would be terrified the whole time, scream at everything, leave half way through to make popcorn and not come back. Arlette would stay the whole way through and try really hard not to jump at things to prove she isn’t scared, but anything to do with insects and she’s hiding behind a cushion. Lilli would be fine. She’s just watching it like a normal movie. “Why are you guys being so dramatic? Our lives have been worse than this”

10. I mean. Jared and Adrian *are* siblings, and they act like it, so I feel like it’s pretty obvious to most people. Lilli might get lumped in with them but I think if anyone asked she’d be like ewwwwww no im not related to them gross. Arlette isn’t white, so I feel like people wouldn’t really assume she’s related to the others. But I think with them all coming from Hull House and having a lot of similar life experiences (and also. generally being teenage assholes to each other) they do kinda act like siblings

17. I say this with love but they all lowkey have the emotional maturity of a potted plant lol. Jared especially, like if one of the others was having a bad day, he would continue being a dick to them until someone told him to fuck off, and then he’d go sulk about it. Arlette might offer to make any negative emotions go away with her powers, but if that’s not something someone wanted (or if this is after she lost her powers) I think she’d be a little lost on what else to do unless specifically told. Maybe some awkward shoulder pats. Adrian would be sweet, I think, he’d probably be the best at emotional support, and Lilli might be ok at it too, I just feel like she’d be a bit more ‘find out the cause of the bad day and beat it up’ oriented. Idk she’s less of a character in ‘97 so there are a lot of blanks to fill in

I think I've mentioned this before but I believe that if the series continued Adrian's bio father would've been revealed to be Puck. It makes a lot of thematic sense in my opinion.

Jared would've been jealous as hell.

(Wait until they find out about their sister.)

Speaking of Jared, he's bisexual (he's got a lot of baggage to sort out before he realizes that though).

Speaking of sexuality headcanons I view Adrian and Lilli as straight for the most part. However I think Arlette would make an interesting aro/ace character (however like Jared she has a lot of things to sort out before getting to her sexuality).

Has Arlette ever met the twins she'd call them fake French and have the most intense beef with Northstar.

However I think Arlette, Jeanne-Marie/Aurora, and Lil would've been close and Arlette would get some semi-positive female role models.

Everyone on the team would get confused when trying to call Lilli Stephens or Lil Crawley. Puck starts calling them the most hyper specific nicknames he can think of.
