oh save me i keep going back and rereading @thechekhov 's on the same page bc this apparently is my life in isolation. I'm addicted. It's such a beautiful mix of funny, sweet and GOD the YEARNING??????
I usually don't go for human AUs of these two just because I enjoy the immortal/magic element too much to let go, but these two middle aged dorks are so endearing that I got into it right away. And also bonus for bringing up polari because of course these two know polari of COURSE they bloody do. Hitting all my headcanons. Bona.
And I know this is a bit of offbeat praise but it's been nice to read a fic where the characters don't see penetrative, P-in-A/V sex as like..,. The Main Thing and everything else is less than. While I am following on wondering if they'll go down that road, it's been... refreshing?? to read the intimate moments these guys have had and for them to be treated as Equally A Big Deal and for it to be all equally emotionally charged/romantic. Like the sleepy, middle of night scene???? perfection.
I just.... i just want to be their therapist. Force them to take turns communicating. I'm waiting eagerly to see how they put out the fires they've lit lol. Because my solution would be to reveal Crow's identity to the dowlings, and then that frees them up to focus solely on what to do about Zira's fear of being outed/Whether crow wants the rumour about them to be spread around.
"We're sorry we couldn't be transparent but anthony tries hard to keep his identity a secret due to the nature of both his work, and the unfortunate circumstance that it might cause others to think negatively of my own. he regularly uses a pseudonym and cover story in public to try and keep some semblance of privacy. But unfortunately one of your guests have met him in the past and it's best we clear this up now." Bam. One half truth solves most of the problem 😂 the rest is "zira u need to stop giving a shit and you will be FREE"
But these two are idiots so im gonna guess they have a FULL sitcom situation on their hands not unlike that trope where someone has to attend two parties at once and run from one place to the other desperately juggling identities and remembering conversations
It's so nice to have something to read and look forward to.
