how i feel about this character: asdfh Katara is my EVERYTHING. I discovered ATLA when i was around ~12/13, and, wow, she changed my life. I was a brown girl who also tragically lost her mother as a kid, so, Katara’s arc has always resonated with me. I’m still wildly impressed by how she’s given the space to be fiercely loving and compassionate and angry (a multi-faceted woc, you love to see it) in the narrative. I’ve always admired, too, much like her element, how she wields her emotions. Just like the push and pull of the water she bends <333

all the people i ship romantically with this character: Primarily Zuko, lmao. I’m just obsessed with how balanced their dynamic is; they both have a fundamental understanding of one another that I don’t think others have of them. It reminds me of this! They truly are narrative equals, always meeting one another halfway :,) Her relationship with Aang (in fanon) is also growing on me (there’s no denying that they love each other, that’s for sure).

my unpopular opinion about this character: I like Katara. Idk, I never understood the fandom’s obsession with her and motherhood. There’s a lot of trauma associated with being the mom friend, I’m unsure of why so many people think she’d instantly want kids? Is she not allowed to be anything else? I’ve also noticed the scorching criticism she’s subjected to whenever she steps out of this moral “box” fandom has placed her in (TSR, for example). Then, of course the portrayals of her as this whiny, aggressive, girl who burdens the gaang (???) Also, if anyone ever told me I spoke about my dead mother too much, I’d just fucking punch them in the face ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I never found that joke funny :/ ~Fandom stop vilifying brown girls for being human challenge~ 

one thing i wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish she was allowed to be more proactive in LOK. Like, Toph and Zuko were kicking butt in their late 80′s, and, yet, Katara’s WHOLE TRIBE gets attacked and she’s nowhere to be found??? Not to mention, everyone (even ZUKO) was at her granddaughter’s airbending master ceremony. Everyone, but her. HUH?!?

idk scrubs or anything but that is 100% what happened. tohru was waiting for water to boil and shigure was hanging out with her bc he yknow spends a lot of time with her just hanging out he’s a social butterfly and that’s his daughter what can he say and so she talked about her day and then about her worries about the play and then collapsed like ‘wahhhh i can’t be evil oh noooo’ and shigure did a dual move of ‘lemme stay on the same level as my daughter to give her some comfort, also the floor’s fun anyway lmao’ and ‘holy shit the kids are doing a play?? kyo and yuki are in it too??? holy shit this is gold lemme find out more about this so i can tease the angsty teens who broke my house so much’ and i DIED HE’S HER DAD THEY HANG OUT REGULARLY SHE TELLS HIM ABOUT HER DAY HE LETS HER VENT TO HIM AHHHHHHHHHHH

Shiitori: As often as he can, Shigure secretly replaces Hatori’s coffee with decaffeinated. Partially because the man needs more sleep. And partially because he looks adorable when he’s napping.

I have never seen this pairing before in my life I'm IMPRESSED.

God I love LOVE the idea of Yuki and Kyo sparring for fun. Especially when they’re older and Kyo is working full-time at the dojo. I bet the younger students love seeing their sensei in a match that can give him a real run for his money. Plus they’re always gonna be competitive little shits that like riling each other up like that, even if it’s just for a little fun.

THEM WORKING OUT THO -- I had a headcanon that they very seriously TRIED to work out together but it always ended up in.... disaster. Kyo likes to maintain a routine and workout at the same times every day and that is always..... much earlier than Yuki can even comprehend.
