'be intimate with me.'
nonsexual intimacy | not accepting | 20: sleeping in the same bed
Usually, when she can't sleep in her own room, Cooper puts her in with Tom; there's room in there for her, a space on the floor where she can comfortably nest. Tonight is different: the storms are battering the house too loud for Murph to sleep, so Cooper's propped up against theheadboard, Murphy tucked under his arm, one of his textbooks still open in her lap although she's finally fallen asleep.
Cooper can feel his eyes drifting himself; he takes the book from Murph's lap, closes it as quiet as he can with one hand, and carefully places it beyond her, on the bedside table. He could carry her back toher room now but he suspects there's loose boarding outside her window which is causing the difficulty; he could put her in Tom's room,but...
Well. It all seems like a lot of effort when he could just do this: very gingerly he settles down, trying his hardest not to disturb her as he goes horizontal, letting her keep laying on his arm. And he sleeps, her small warmth a constant next to him.
