I keep getting super sad because I keep seeing people who just started gardening or something, and they’re holding a giant zucchini or something. And they’re so proud of their crop. But I, a weathered gardener, know that zucchinis and other crops will happily grow that big if you let them be.
You’re supposed to catch them before then, because those types of veggies get bitter if they go over the size limit. They love to just keep growing, but all the yummy flavor goes bitter.
So I just sit and stare, at the bitter-sweetness of these gardener’s photos. It’s so sweet that they’re so proud, and it makes me happy for them. But I also know the sad secret...is this the lot of a Hufflepuff?
