Not to say anything specific, but on its own the way Dr.Webber is manipulated in this most recent episode is so interesting
In the beginning, he finds the garden and just lays down, as to be expected after the murder + panic attack
but then he starts getting nostalgic based on what he smells. He’s reminded of “Maddy” (his ex wife who he murdered, I think?), and spends a long time reminiscing
his first injuries are scabs on his back that make it painful to move. All of his injures make it less and less pleasant to move
Even before the obvious manipulation, he does seem to want to disappear. Not quite die, but its clear he doesn’t want to face what’s happening, especially since he did it
so that guilt and not knowing what to do, he just stays there. He starts faintly hearing maddy, so he stays
I think he held some vain hope despite everything that maddy was somehow there, like he could just forget everything and live happily ever after with her
and thats why he ignores the first parts of it
what I think is fascinating is that towards the end, his priorities in diagnosing himself shift
it comes after the priority shift on a normal level, where he starts letting it happen
then, he starts justifying it and its no longer polyps and splitting skin, its that his “progress is coming along nicely”, like he is a patient
like his instinct of “what to do with a patient” is being manipulated to be about himself, and he rationalizes why he feels fine with all the horrific things happening
