I do not CARE how many times its been said, Im going to say it again, The Backrooms movie genuinely made me go insane. There are so many layers to everything and every layer has more fucking layers!!!!!!!!

The line "Its like describing a dog to someone who's never seen one before and then asking them to draw it", especially with how the backrooms themselves are meant to represent mental illness and trauma, to me feels like a "metaphor"(?) for how no matter how much you explain to someone the inner workings of YOUR brain, and the complexities of your traumas and doubts and anxieties, they'll never be able to understand the whole picture. To quote the movie again "the devil's in the details." If they can never understand the details, even if they try to understand the whole picture, most if not all minute details and complex components of your specific traumas and everything else will be lost along with them as it's boiled down to its most simple components. But still, at a distance, who'd be able to tell?

I also especially REALLY liked how the backrooms were described as "misremembering" things, just like our brains do. We block things out and our memories warp the more we try to remember them. If the brain wants you to forget something then you will, but the impression will still remain. You'll still have the feeling of remembering something even if nothing is there (from my own experiences at least)

Also I love and hate Clark so much. He's such a genuinely amazingly written character in my opinion. I love how Captain Clark represents the most boiled down parts of him, his anger, his frustrations, his instinctive need to lash out at everyone who gets too close, leading to him hurting and eventually, even though indirectly, killing them. Then his anger literally kills him. I also really love how he was written to be stuck in this endless cycle of not wanting to change despite how many people he hurts. He's comfortable in his self destruction, it's familiar, it's safe to him. He's genuinely such a relatable character at the end of the day, most of us dont want to change our ways, some for better some for worse. We get too comfortable in our way of life and our way of thinking that being asked to change feels like a personal attack on our character, it feels dangerous to leave the comfort of our self destruction because without it who would we be?
