How well do we know each other?: You found my secret magazines, so pretty well.  Maybe better than we should.  Depends on how far you got in those magazines.

Do you have a pet name for me?: A few you’re not supposed to know about, but they’re all good I promise.  One of them has “God” in it but not in a sarcastic way.

Do I have a pet name for you?: Probably.  Like, I don’t want to assume, but sometimes when you call me “Highness” I feel things.

Are you attracted to me?: B O I.

Why do you want to marry me?: ‘Cause you’re you and I like you a lot.  I like you like you.  A lot.  For more than cooking.  And you’re pretty and you’re hot and you do the thing with the knives and like do you know how many times I could have ruined a battle by ripping my clothes off?  ...Well now you know me much better than you should.

Big wedding or Small wedding?: Tiny.  Elope.  Let’s just get married in an afternoon and come back and tell no one.  Unless we can count on them to buy us a cake.  But then we tell people one by one and tell them not to tell anyone else so we get more cakes that way.

Ignis makes his way over to Prompto and smiles benignly at him, a hand resting on the small of his back. “Are you enjoying the food?”

He nods around a mouthful of food, wiping at a droplet of sauce just about to run off his chin with the back of a hand.

    In contrast to the horrid red lance in Ignis’ possession, a great blue light was summoned along with his shield. He wouldn’t move. “I am not going to fight you, Ignis.”

Ignis didn’t respond for a long moment, the question catching him off guard. His fingers tightened around the cane in his hand, the sound of leather filling the silence, and the darkness somewhat. His mind mulled the question over, searching for Noct’s motives, the reason he must be asking at all. Surely the boy was looking for some sort of solace in Ignis’ answer, and so he spoke carefully.

“We all regret something, Noct. It’s best to try not to dwell on those things. We must continue forward.” The rich timbre of his voice was a stark contract to Noct’s quiet tone. Ignis knew he hadn’t answered the question, but that seemed like the most appropriate answer, and might help satisfy his young king’s heart.

There was silence afterward, an almost unnatural stillness before Noctis let out a breath, forcibly slow and steady.  There remained another space for breathing, thinking, gathering his tone more than his words.  “Iggy?  With every ounce of love and respect I have in me?  Stop that.  King’s orders.”  The laugh was shaky and transparent at best, far from a sound that held any joy.
