drunk, lightweight, katsuki 💭
the kind of night out where he drinks too much and accidentally admits he’s in love with izuku to kirishima. though, admitting something might insinuate that kirishima didn’t already know. so really that’s a strong word.
because everybody knows.
but he lets him talk anyway. lets him ramble about his stupid freckles and the way he picks at his fingers while thinking, because he can’t get away with mumbling to himself now that they’re professionals.
post 431, he complains about watching him walk away from him and towards ochako. how he tried to be happy for him. he IS happy for him…
or even an evening during their last days in ua, as third years. where denki snuck a little bit of liquor in and they indulged in a little bit of teenage fun. a celebration much deserved.
but izuku doesn’t really ever get drunk, not because he doesn’t want to but because it takes too much. he doesn’t have the patience or the energy to force it down cause he doesn’t like the taste. so, he ends up only a little flush in the face and floaty.
katsuki on the other hand, finds himself unable to keep his mouth shut. he doesn’t care how much he’s staring at izuku. doesn’t care that he’s not being subtle with his lingering touches anymore. he’s not brushing shoulders on accident and he likes when their knees touch.
he ignores mina as she asks him questions about who knows what and instead watches how effortlessly izuku talks with todoroki and iida. notes every-time he laughs without a care in the world. how he throws his head back as ochako and tsuyu tell a story he can’t quite hear.
he wonders what he did in a past life to deserve to even hear that sweet sound, no matter how muffled it is now to his ears.
the kind of lightweight that would call izuku and apologize for things he’s already apologized for. telling him he’s sorry about middle school. sorry for pushing him away. sorry he couldn’t protect him. sorry he couldn’t be who he needs.
