Yen Yen By Lolay x KOBORED 6–26 Jan 2023 7.30–midnight At National Gallery Singapore, Façade Light to Night Festival 🌲 There are many things that we use in our lives to aid us through daily activities related to our personal lives, our work or play. These things may include lifeless objects and tools like transport vehicles, the computer, musical instruments, clothing items, home appliances, and architecture like our homes and offices. These things, although lifeless, may hold close to us as we interact with them everyday. At times, they may appear as if they do have a life of their own. Lolay is interested in our relationship with the things that we come in close contact with in our lives. The tools that aid us and the things that serve us are part of our lives and often play a significant role. The intricate web of fine lines often found in Lolay’s drawings are like signs of life manifesting out of mundane, lifeless objects, bringing them to life. The artist questions the life of things that we come into contact with; are there signs of life underground as we walk around the city, lifeforms hidden in the nooks and crannies of our cars or the walls in our homes that seemingly emit energy that syncs with our moods and emotions. The proposed work in response to the festival theme of “Here and Now”, is a manifestation of imagined lifeforms that will engulf the gallery architecture; a combination of quirky, light-hearted line drawings and splashes of colours, in a spontaneous and illustrative manner much like graffiti art. #lolayyenyen #roninyenyensg #lighttonightsg #lighttonightfestival Photo : @aey.pakorn ❤️ @parenadda (at National Gallery Singapore) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnVxV2ySudO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
