Happy birthday Zoe!! Here’s hoping you have many more! What made you decide to have Roger acting like a jerk in this episode instead of redeeming him with his daughter based on how the Bourgeois treated him in Rogercop? Is it because of how he acted in canon!Captain Hardrock and canon!Copycat?
Roger is one of those characters that kinda jumps around on whether he’s a good or bad guy so I can’t fully like him but I can’t fully hate him. He comes across one of those guys that’s “Well Meaning but Annoying”. Like, he’s always on the front line to take down akumas by himself despite just being a squishy human, but he’s also caused at least two by “upholding the law” to a ridiculous degree. He wouldn’t bend to the Mayor demanding he break the law, but he also encourages his daughter to be Chloe’s personal slave.
Roger is a simplistic guy but this interesting zeal for “justice” makes him kind of complicated. I mean, I can’t fully blame him for when he went off on Mr. Ramier for feeding pigeons despite being told constantly not to considering the health and safety hazards (for both people and pigeons) and I can’t fully blame him for going off on Mrs. Couffaine (in canon) when they broke the sound limit with a single guitar stroke. Yet both episodes very much painted him as the bad guy and he was definitely a jerk about it.
So I have mixed feelings about him.
