Am I a fan: No idea! I think I only know one of their songs (update: two!). With classic rock-type stuff, if my dad either didn’t like it or didn’t play it while I was growing up (or my mom, but her taste tended to be more folky), I generally didn’t check it out. Then again, we listened to a lot of Psychedelic Sunday in the car on trips when I was young, so maybe there’s a bunch of Deep Purple I secretly know. But if I’d liked it I would have asked what it was.

First song I heard by them: Definitely “Smoke on the Water.”

Favorite song: I just looked up “Highway Star” because the title looked familiar and I think I might like it a little more than “Smoke on the Water.” I have no problems with these guys, but it's the kind of thing that I tend not to get that excited about straightforward rock and roll, even when it's proto heavy metal.

Seen them live: Nope! I have a friend who probably has, though.
