I-HOW: IAU Hands-On Workshops.
Millions of people around the world celebrated the astronomical breakthroughs that have shaped science, technology and culture over the last century. The IAU100 celebrations highlighted the importance of astronomy as a tool for education, development and diplomacy.
The IAU calls for applications for workshops under the IAU Hands-On Workshops (I-HOW) initiative.
Proposals to organise one of these workshops should be submitted using the application form provided for that by email to one of the members of the I-HOW Steering Committee.
The call for workshops in 2024 is open; the deadline is 30 May 2023. See below for the procedure to prepare and submit your proposal.

Short film on “Light Inspiration on Our Planet”.
Forty 13-year-old students will prepare a short film about “Light Inspiration in Our Planet”. While preparing this short film, it is aimed to show the inspiring Light topics in the focus of more than one subject such as science, sustainable development goals, innovation and entrepreneurship. With this short film, students will be able to increase their digital competence and capacity. Students have already opened a youtube channel for this event, a short film with English subtitles will be published on this page, so they can expand the social impact and provide inspiration and motivation to promote the international day of light and spread it to more people. In addition, this event brings together the disciplines of art and science!

In parallel with the light unit, they learned earlier in the science lesson, a series of experimental studies such as making colored wheels, solar ovens (-SDG7- clean and accessible energy) and rainbows with STEM-based fully recyclable materials will be carried out with 40 13-year-old students.
They will understand how important light is for a sustainable future. In this way, they will be able to develop deeper and permanent learning based on light. They will be able to establish relationships between different disciplines by developing their STEM skills.
