Dean had procrastinated and now he had to study almost the whole night to the finals, so he was going to get coffee to keep himself awake. This wasn’t the first time he had been in that coffee shop at the campus but when he goes there, there’s a new hot guy at the counter. When it is Dean’s turn he puts on his ‘How you doin’?’ face and asks: ‘Are you new? I haven’t seen you here before.’ Dean reads his name tag which says ‘Castiel’. ‘I just started working here today’, Castiel answers. ‘So what can I get you?’, Castiel asks. ‘The largest cup of coffee that you have’, Dean answers. Castiel looks at him confused, probably because it’s late and he’s getting that much coffee. ‘Finals are tomorrow and I need to study and I need something to keep me awake’, Dean explains. ‘You’re just now starting to study?’, Castiel asks with a playful smirk. ‘So you know what’s it like?’, Dean asks with the same kind of smirk that Castiel has. ‘I get you that coffee’, Castiel says and winks at Dean before turning to the coffee maker. After the coffee is done he hands it to Dean who pays it. ‘Enjoy your coffee and good luck with the finals’, Castiel says to Dean before Dean leaves.
At his room he sits down on the floor where he spreads all his books and notes. He grabs the closest book and starts reading it and tries to understand something. He totally should’ve started studying sooner. He’s going to grab his coffee mug but notices there’s writing on it. It’s a number. Then Dean realizes that it’s probably Castiel’s phone number and he grins. He checks the clock to see if the coffee shop is closed already. After checking that he calls Castiel. ‘Hello?’, Castiel answers. ‘Hey, it’s Dean’, Dean says and is met with silence. ‘The guy from the coffee shop’, Dean explains. ‘Oh hey Dean! I didn’t think you would call so soon’, Castiel says. ‘Well I couldn’t study without calling you first’, Dean says. ‘Well what did you want to say before studying to important finals?’, Castiel asks pressing the word ‘important’. ‘Would you want to get coffee with me tomorrow?’, Dean asks. Castiel just laughs and answers: ‘Yeah, sounds good.’ ‘Good, I see you tomorrow then, bye’, Dean says enthusiastically. ‘Bye’, Castiel says before Dean hangs up. Dean continues studying.
The next morning he’s gonna go to the test with the power of coffee and fifteen minutes sleeping. After he has done the test, he goes back to his room and sleeps an hour before he’s woken up by his phone ringing. It’s Castiel. ‘Hello?’, Dean answers. ‘Hello, Dean. You want to go get that coffee now?’, Castiel asks. ‘Yeah sure, I gotta change clothes, meet you at the coffee shop in half an hour’, Dean says. ‘Okay, see you then’, Castiel says and hangs up. Then Dean gets up, takes a quick shower and changes his clothes and gets to the coffee shop just when Castiel arrives there. They greet each other and go inside. They order and go sit at the table. They talk about finals, their families and their lives. After that they go for a walk around the campus. They find a place under a tree with a perfect view. They sit down on the grass and watch the view until Dean feels Castiel staring him. He turns to him and asks: ‘What?’ Castiel kisses him and Dean is surprised first but then kisses him back. After they separate, they’re both grinning and Dean says: ‘Thank god for finals and procrastination.’ And they start laughing.
