So there's already fics like Veritas where Len or Barry is forced to speak the truth, but what if there was a meta/being who made Barry or Len only talk in lies? Barry getting increasingly frustrated with it, Len initially having fun with it but then getting worried seeing Barry get so worked up..
Ooooo, oh this would be TOUGH, because if everything they said had to be lies, it would be like…Bizarro, sort of. And that would be complicated to write. But very fun. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it. You have me wondering now…
Imagine how hard it would be for either of them if they don’t KNOW what the other is afflicted with and they’re just saying the most awful things. Like it hits Barry and he’s saying how much Len is a killer and a monster and not worth saving. That he hates him, thinks he’s worthless and destined to turn out just like his father. No wonder no one really cares for him when he’s just a lowlife criminal, and Barry would be better off if he’d never met him.Â
Len runs off, and Barry is so heartbroken because he kept trying to say different things, but kept making it worse with each fresh lie, until he could see how hurt he was making Len and then…Len was gone.Â
Eventually he’s able to get someone, Cisco, to understand, and demands (in backwards speech) that he call Snart and get him to the labs so Barry can explain the truth. Len’s there to help then so they can figure out how to fix Barry.Â
Then you’d get to have the most ridiculous heartfelt confession of love that comes across as Barry telling Len he HATES him, but Len knows what he really means, can see it in his eyes, and just…kisses him, and somehow, for once, saying all the wrong things doesn’t backfire on Barry, because Len gets it. Which is why it’s so ridiculous that once Barry can speak truths again he rambles and says all the wrong things anyway, but Len doesn’t care, because Len loves him too.
