It was a fair enough point, though she can't let go of her curiosity as easily as the man beside her. Zilika’s eyes flicked back towards him.

“What if it’s something sucky?”

“Mm?”

“Like if it’s a bomb.”

“Well… best hope we don’t hit too many bumps then, huh?”

It wasn’t really the point she was trying to make, but she gets the feeling he knows that. Like he’s being politely firm about the fact that what’s in the cargo trailer is really none of his business, and he won’t be convinced to rethink it. Not that she actually cares to get into the moral quandary of it all. She really just wants to know what they’re hauling.

The young sorceress turns her attention to the rain hitting the windshield, and drew her arms around herself, thinking about how freezing it was out there. Even the truck was a little chilly, but it was far better than outside.

“It was a good thing you didn’t stay out in that,” the bronze says, echoing her thoughts before they could come out.

“Yeah, no, the last thing I’d want is to get sick and be sneezing all over my girlfriend.”

“And you really don’t mind the detour?”

“Not at all,” she replies, shrugging, “I’m in no rush. I’m just glad to not be soaking wet right now. You said the delivery’s pretty close, anyways.”

“Sure, just an hour up this way.” He gestured with a nod towards the road. “But I really could just take you directly home.”

“I told you already, I don’t wanna mess up your work schedule, man. I’m going the round trip with you. And anyways, I like being on the road.”

Lidree shrugged his shoulders. He didn’t seem to have any real objections. He’s probably just glad for the company. Constantly driving over long, empty highways seems relaxing, but lonely.

“Do you drive?” he asked.

“Me? No. My wheels of preference are a skateboard. I feel like driving would require me to be responsible in some way.”

“Well, sure. But responsibility ain’t always bad. And if you drive, you can be on the road more.”

“Fair enough. I’ll think on it.”

“Maybe you can even get a CDL.”

“Could you imagine a chick like me driving a semi? No way, man. I’d kill someone.”

The driver laughed.

“And I think you’d get too nosy about what you’re haulin’.”

“You’re insane for NOT wanting to look, man!”

“Tell you what, get your license, and the next time you catch me on a job, I’ll let you take a peek at what’s in the back.”
