You ever think we're predators for bugs, not because we eat them, but because we slap and spray the shit out of them?
Lady at the library where I work: How much is it to attend one of your programs or check out this book?
Me: Absolutely free!
Lady: Free?
Me: Yes! One of the best things about the library is that we're absolutely free, so you should take advantage of that! *Launches into spiel I wholeheartedly believe*
Lady: You don't make much, do you?
Help. What a reaction xD. And... no, I don't. Kinda shot down my happy vibe. But honestly, libraries ARE free. (I know some systems charge for more expensive programs, but none of the ones in my area do.)
Take advantage of the services and support them. You can get free digital content! Books, streaming services, even cool events! (If you're in my area and it's ancient history, it's probably me. /Dork )
Give me a bittersweet piano intro and I’m all yours

Weeding Thoughts
I am doing some hardcore weeding on the 500s in my library and I need to keep track of some of the issues I am encountering, both in making the decision to weed and in selecting new materials.
- Why do most kids book still refer to “three states of matter?” And I can’t find a good early reader about plasma from my vendors.
- Is there a series like Eyewitness Science that is still published? They’re soooooo good but generally dated now (only up to Voyager I? Uh uh, no, that’s too old).
- Am I bad for keeping non-astronomy science books that include Pluto? For instance, a early reader measurement book includes the temperature around the solar system? Context clues show that clearly the book assumes Pluto is a planet but doesn’t explicitly say that. And with the rest of the book still being a great resources, I’m keeping it. Does that make me a bad librarian?
I think it was @wishbone-md who recently talked about studying in the undergrad library and how the little undergrads are cute and need to be protected. Anyway - I totally do it so I can assert my dominance over them.
I’m not stupid, but I have to ask you stupid questions because you would not believe the shit that I’ve seen
